Description
An original copy of The Beatles' Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, PMC 7027, issued 1967 on the Parlophone label.
This first pressing of Sergeant Pepper's was released in 1967. It has the " All rights of the manufacturer" message round the edge of the label starts with "The Gramophone Co Ltd.". The label also displays the "Sold in the U.K." statement (the second pressing did not feature the "Sold in the U.K." statement). It has the original cut-outs insert with "Printed in England" at bottom left, dark green colour, thicker card. The dark colour occurred in the early pressing.
The sleeve is very rare and unique. The "Fourth Proof" sleeve (inner right corner) represents the earliest pressing of the Sergeant Pepper cover. The Fourth Proof was the final version of the various prototypes that were tried when the cover was being designed. The cover and text was approved by the Beatles and an initial very small test run was done to make sure everything was good. This small test run is characterised by the inverted "Fourth Proof" text in the top right hand corner of the inner gatefold. This is therefore the earliest possible prototype test pressing cover.

The gatefold has wear to the spine. The vinyl has the expected hairline scratches but these do not harm the good sound quality of the record.
