Description

    • This is an Excellent condition copy of a MONO first pressing of the Beatles 1967 psychedelic classic "Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band", issued on Parlophone PMC 7027. The labels bear "The Gramophone Co. Ltd..." and "Sold in the UK..." text, and the album is contained in a Garrod & Lofthouse laminated gatefold sleeve, with the red & white 'wavy' inner sleeve, and intact Sgt.Pepper cut-out sheet
    • Matrix numbers are XEX 637-1 and XEX 638-1
    • Stamper number on side one inner run-off is "3" over "7" at the 9 o'clock/left position, and "MMP" at the 3 o'clock/right position. On side two the stamper at left is "10", and at right "AGM"
    • The "KT" Purchase Tax indicator is embossed on the side one label (see pix)
    • I use the 'Record Collector' grading system when listing vinyl, and adhere strictly to this criteria. This album falls within the accepted description of an Excellent item. ["The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear or creasing"]
    • Visually both sides of the album are incredibly clean, with no stylus scratching or inner sleeve scuffing evident! The vinyl has retained a bright glossy appearance, and the label print is also very bright; there is also very little spindle-wear marking (see pix)
    • The audio reproduction is truly excellent! The run-in grooves display some very slight noise, which is to be expected, and there is some crackling on the final grooves on side two (just before the 'mystery message' in the run-out grooves ... "there'll never be any other..."?!). In between the run-in and the run-out grooves the segued-album tracks reproduce great sound quality; full frequency range from treble to bass with no distortion
    • The gatefold laminated sleeve has retained the original bright primary gloss colours, displaying only a partial rim-wear line and with a few laminate creases. The opening edges are sharp and unfeathered, and the spine is unbroken clearly showing the album title. The inner gatefold shows some laminate folding along the line of the inner spine but is otherwise very clean
    • The original psychedelic red & white inner bag (designed by 'The Fool' team and contained only in early copies of the album) is not in the best condition! Bottom and side seams have partial splits, and the top opening edge is also torn. Brown aging marks are also evident on the white portions of the design. This item is an essential part of the original packaging and is included in the sale, but I have placed this separately in the gatefold sleeve and enclosed the vinyl in a top-quality inner for its protection
    • The Sgt.Pepper cut-out sheet is intact, uncreased and unmarked. It is in excellent condition

    • The attached post and packaging notes are my 'standard draft' guidance for buyers. Due to the rarity and value of this album I strongly recommend that the winning bidder opts for the Insured postal rates. (In the UK this would be £5 for Special Delivery; a successful overseas bidder will need to check mailing rates with me at the conclusion of the auction before making payment). I ensure that albums are securely packaged in quality mailers and customer feedback to date assures me of the success of this policy. Please note that should a buyer decide to opt for standard mailing rates the Post Office will not provide compensation in the event of problems arising out of mail handling and I can accept no further liabilty for loss or damage after mailing

Posting Costs & Packaging Notes

UK Special Delivery with enhanced compensation will cost a total of £5-00 for a single album, and £6-00 for a double album.
