THE BEATLES - 'RUBBER SOUL'
Arguably the best-sounding MONO pressing of this album is this 1965 2nd pressing on the black & yellow Parlophone label: PMC 1267

The 'KT' purchase tax code is visible in the centre of the side 2 label.
Matrix numbers: XEX 579-5 & XEX 580-5
Stamper codes: 2/GR & 1/GH
Vinyl weight: 148g
Housed in a front laminated, tri-flipback 'Garrod & Lofthouse' printed mono cover & original rice-paper-lined 'Use Emitex..' inner-sleeve.

Disc
Labels: EXCELLENT +
A clean & bright pair showing just a small number of well-aimed spindle trails around each unworn centre hole.
Visual: EXCELLENT +
Pristine deep-gloss playing surfaces which apart from a single light turntable scuff on side 1 are unmarked in strong daylight. Even close inspection directly beneath my powerful halogen desk lamp fails to reveal anything more than a few barely visible wispy paper hairlines consistent with the few times this disc has been removed from its inner. Both sides of this treasured copy lie 100% flat on the turntable when playing.
Sound Quality: NEAR MINT
Unlike the harsh sounding, over-compressed '-1' cutting or the tamed ' -4' revision, this '-5' cutting really hits the spot on every level with superbly balanced warmth and clarity, unmatched before or since. This unbeatable copy has received just a few careful plays on top-quality equipment and apart from a touch of low-level vinyl background between tracks plays flawlessly throughout and will not disappoint.
Cover: EXCELLENT +
A clean & firm example with and richly coloured, unworn high-gloss front panel which is free form any 'thumbnails' or other such wrinkles. There are tiny bruises to two corners & a trace of wear to the opening edges but nothing of any significance anywhere. The rear panel is perfectly clean & bright overall with a few faint fingermarks, but no writing or missing paper. All flipbacks are clean and fully intact and both seams and the spine are smooth, unstressed and unworn.
The spine is clean, white & fully worded.
Inner-sleeve: EXCELLENT
Clean & crisp with some gentle storage wrinkles but no writing, seam splits or tears.
