The Beatles - Please Please Me, original 1963 3rd pressing (1st yellow and black press) in stereo!
A very limited run of this label appeared with an extra 33 1/3 on it. The parlophone yellow and black labels all have a large 33 1/3 above the yellow 'parlophone' text, but this first batch came out with the gold and black labels 33 1/3 (a very small one) next to the catalogue number. There was no need for two sets of numbers so this was immediatly changed to a copy that just had large numbers.
It is recognised that the copy with both 33 1/3s was issued in very small numbers particularly in stereo. This is that 3rd label variation mentioned in last december copy of the Record Collector, 200 rarest records of all time at 12th place. It is also listed in the new rare records price guide 2012.

Inner sleeve is the, made in england patents applied for Emitex type.
This is a very good copy with no sticks or jumps. It has a few minor surface scratches on both sides so does crackle very slightly between tracks and there are a couple of pops on 2 or 3 of the tracks. But for a record of this age I think the sound quality is very good. It would probably benefit from a good clean but I will leave that to the professionals I don't want to attempt it.
Unfortunatly the cover is not in the best of condition with quite a few creases and it is scuffed around the edges, having said that the albums title on the left edge is still very clear (see photo). The reverse of the cover has some rubbing and disscolouration through age but is still perfectly readable. The bottom edge of the sleave was split when I purchased the record and unfortunatly I did repair it with sellotape (sorry, in my defence I was very young at the time and and didn't realise what I had back then). The cover is definatly a match for the record as it has the word stereo in the top right had corner in the larger letters of the earley copies and in the bottom right hand corner the begining of the word 'photos' is in line with the last 's' of songs (in later copies it was further to the left) although the rest of the wording has rubbed away (see photos).
I have had this record in my collection since the early ninties but have only found out relatively recently how rare it is. So I am a bit frightened to play it (will stick to my CD copy). So it would be nice for it to go to someone who can really appricate it.
I have put lots of photos on my listing so you can have a good look at the album and I have been as honest as possible in my description of the sound quality and album cover (I am not a serious record collector or record expert).
