THE BEATLES - 'PLEASE, PLEASE ME'
1964 UK *STEREO* PRESSING LP
This hard to find STEREO pressing dates from early 1964 and bears the '5th' variant of the yellow & black Parlophone label: PCS 3042
The labels bear the same layout & font style as the '4th' label but with the 'Sold in UK..' text added.
This label design was quickly revised with a slightly different layout and typeface.
An 'MT' purchase tax code is visible around the side 1 centre hole.
'Parlophone Co. Ltd.' worded rims are present on both labels.
Housed within front laminated, tri-flipback 'Garrod & Lofthouse' printed cover with a 'mid-sized' stereo indicator.
Complete with its original 'Use Emitex..' poly-lined inner-sleeve.
Matrix numbers: YEX 94-1 & YEX 95-1

Labels: EXCELLENT +
A bright, clean & glossy pair with just one or two light spindle marks on side 2 but no trace of wear to either centre hole. There is a tiny, pin-head sized fleck of missing paper on the side 1 label in the 2 o'clock position but both are otherwise flawless.
Visual: VERY GOOD +
Both playing surface are clean, bright & glossy but some light surface marks are visible in strong daylight consistant with normal handling & play, but nothing I would call a scratch. Close examination directly beneath my powerful halogen desk lamp reveals some harmless wispy paper-type hairlines but no major visual blemishes. Both sides of this quality, heavy pressing lie 100% flat on the turntable when playing.
Play: EXCELLENT +
A really superb sounding copy which has clearly received just careful play on top-quality equipment. The sound throughout my careful play-check at volume was flawless with no traces of any groove/play wear on any track or in either channel. Both run-ins and all bands play silently with no clicks, pops, ticks or any other such distraction there or elsewhere. Very hard to find another copy of this pressing in such condition.
Cover
EXCELLENT -
A highly respectable example of this rare cover which has been well looked-after stored all its life in a non-smoking environment. The front panel is immaculate with an unscratched, unworn high-gloss laminate which bears just a single 'thumbnail' wrinkles. There is a hint of shelfwear rubbing to the lower corners and a small bump to the upper left. Both opening edges are clean and undamaged with just a handful of tiny 'pushes' to the rear opening. The rear panel is clean & white with the only blemish being a small written 'dot' next to 'Please, Please Me' on the tracklisting. The impression of a name and address is visible along the upper flipback but all are otherwise intact and undamaged. Both seams are completely smooth, unstressed & unsplit and the spine is in perfect, unworn condition.
Inner-sleeve
VERY GOOD +
Clean & undamaged with some minor handling wear and a faint stain on one side but no writing, tears or seam splits.
