THE BEATLES ( ULTRA- RARE 1963 UK 1st PRESS MONO ISSUE OF THIS DEBUT LP ! EARLIEST LABEL VARIANT WITH THE DICK JAMES MUS.CO PUBLISHING CREDITS ! COMPLETE WITH ERNEST.J.DAY COVER AND EMITEX INNER .
PLEASE PLAESE ME
This Rare Mono LP was Released March 22nd 1963 and was the Fab Four's DEBUT LP release with Stereo versions following 5 weeks later !
On Feburary the 11th 1963 The Beatles recorded 10 songs at EMI's Abbey Road Studios, these songs plus 4 recorded for the band's 2 singles became the Beatles 1st album. The very earliest 1st releases had the publisher label error printed as Dick James Mus.co for all of McCartney - Lennon songs except for ' love me do' and ' P S I love you ' !!! which incidentally , song credits changed to Lennon-McCartney on future album releases. Due to Parlophone changing their label in the spring to the more familiar Yellow Parlophone type , these Gold and Black labels ( used since the 50s ) were only produced for a few months combined with the 2nd Gold variation and the fact this was the 1st LP release from the band, contributes to the reason why these early 1st presses are so rare !
The Ernest .J.Day covers were also only produced for a very short spell before the photo credit on the front was changed .In the listing we have a slightly later cover , allthough still original 1st issue. We do have the original cover with the correct positioning of the photo credit but it's not in the best condition but it is included in this auction.

COVER
Original tri-flapped Ernest .J.Day cover with the large Mono logo has survived very well considering it was the Beatles 1st Album cover and is nearly 50 Years Old !!! The front laminate is still very clean and bright with no lifting , bubbling etc and just some light creases to fault ! The corners have some wear to them but they don't spoil the overall appearance and the spine is fully intact with no splitsor cracking . The rear panel is still very , very white with no stains etc .During the swinging 60s there were many party's, where it was common practice to take your lps along , this promted most to write their name , address etc on the covers but this one has survived the dreaded ink ! There is a little damage to the top right flap in the corner and some light wear to the bottom flap but overall this cover is still in very clean shape and presentable , well above the average condition offered for this cover ! ( see-pics) VERY GOOD CONDITION !
VINYL
Both sides still retain a deep glossy shine with clean deep grooves and in normal room light look great with no nasty scratches or stains .There are a couple of scuffs to each side which are visable but they are not very deep and only cause some soft clicks upon playing. All tracks play through with very clear audio, no jumps, skips or repeats and just some light background noise and some soft clicks on the odd occasion , it's not a near mint example but it's a better looking and sounding example than the average offered. Very worthy, nice playable copy just let down a little with some small scuffs ! It lays perectly flat and would grace any collection ( see-pics ) both Visualy and Audibly VERY GOOD PLUS CONDITION !
LABELS Very rare 1st variation of Gold / Black Labels with ' Dick James Mus.Co ' publisher credit error ! Both labels are clean and free from writing, stickers etc, there is some wear around the centre holes but otherwise they are clean and faultless , not bad for 50 years !!!! ZMT Tax code visable on side 1 ( see-pics) strong VERY GOOD CONDITION ! INNER
Original EMITEX advertising inner sleeve , again in very clean shape with nothing more to fault than some light creases from storage and a little toning ( see-pic) ! Super example
DON'T MISS OUT ON THIS VERY WORTHY EARLIEST 1st PRESSING RELEASE OF THE BEATLES 1st ALBUM !!!!!
