THE BEATLES - 'PLEASE, PLEASE ME'

UK 1963 1st *MONO* PRESSING

This early copy is the black & gold Parlophone label: PMC 1202

Both labels carry the initial, incorrect 'Dick James Mus. Co. publishing credits for tracks 1 & 2 on side 1 and 4&6 on side 2.

An 'MT' tax/price code is visible in the centre of the side 2 label.

Housed in a front laminated, tri-flipback 'Ernest J. Day' printed cover with the 'Angus McBean' credit it in the extreme lower right corner.

Complete with its original 'Use Emitex' poly-lined inner.

A superb bright & clean pair which retain all of their gold print with no rubbing or missing characters to either side.
There are no traces of stickers, writing or any touch-up to either centre hole.

Visual: EXCELLENT

Both surfaces are extremely clean & bright and retain all of their 'as new' deep-gloss shine with no clouding or groove-whitening to either side.
Careful examination in strong daylight shows up just a single 2cm fingernail scuff line on side 1 and a tiny 2mm scratch on track 1 of side 2.
Close inspection directly beneath halogen light reveals just a sparkling rainbow gloss shine & few dull flecks in the vinyl itself, but no other significant or major signs of wear.
Both sides lie 100% flat on the turntable with no dishing or warping.

Play: EXCELLENT

This fine copy has received just some careful light play on good equipment as the sound throughout is clean & clear with no significant or major deterioration to the sound quality.
My careful playcheck at volume found no groovewear on the easily damaged louder tracks & just slight background n the opening chord of 'Misery'.
Apart from 4 moderate clicks on 'Love Me Do', I heard no other similar distractions. Nor are there any jumps or repeats.
Both run-ins and all bands play entirely without interference on what represents a very respectable early example.

GOOD

Unfortunately not in as good as condition as the disc. This example is fairly tired with moderate handling & storagwear.
The front panel is clean but displays a small scuff mark in front of Ringo and some general edge & corner wear.

The rear panel displays some small foxing spots but is free from any writing or missing paper.
There is a small section of missing flipback to the lower right corner but all others are intact.
Both seams and the spine are fully intact and the spine is clearly worded & undamaged.

Strict & grading under strong daylight & directly beneath a halogen desk lamp based on UK 'RECORD COLLECTOR' standards.
