Description
The Beatles Please Please Me - Parlophone PMC 1202.
Rare Black & Gold Mono 1st Pressing.
This is an opportunity to obtain one of the rarest versions of The Beatles first album.
I am not a dealer or a collector, and this record has been in my possession since I purchased it in 1963.

Tax Code MT embossed on side 1
Sides 1 & 2 have “Dick James Mus. Co.” publishing credits for “I Saw Her Standing There”, “Misery”, “Ask Me Why”, “Please Please Me”, “Do You Want To Know A Secret” and “There’s A Place”
I believe that these credits where replaced by “Northern Songs” from the second pressing onwards.
The labels have “The Parlophone Co. Ltd.” edge text. There is no “First Published” or “Sold in the UK” text.
The cover, is also one of the earliest, having the “Angus McBean” photo credit in the extreme bottom right hand corner.
The cover is “Printed and Made by Ernest J. Day & Co. Ltd. And is the early laminated, thick card, Flipback design.
The laminate has very few creases and the flipbacks still intact. The cover in general is in excellent condition for its age. There is some wear evident to the bottom right hand corner which is also slightly creased.
The record itself is contained in the original “Emitex” inner sleeve.
The record shows some signs wear with a few minor surface scratches, but again is in great condition for its age. The sound from the heavy weight vinyl is still superb. I played the record just before listing it for sale and was surprised how good it still sounds!!!
There are no clicks or crackles noticeable when listening to the music and there are no jumps or skips, but as with all vinyl of this age you can hear some minor surface noise in the dead space between the tracks.
The record is flat with no signs of warping.
