CONDITION

Disc

Visual:

Disc 1: EXC+/MINT-

Disc one appears very fresh and almost mint when viewed in strong daylight. When viewed under an intense halogen desklight some very light handling marks become visible. There are no distracting marks to the record and certainly no scratches or anything that affects play. Grades at or around near MINT and in my opinion beyond excellent +.

Disc 2: Side three EXC+    Side four EXC+/MINT-

Once again a fresh looking disc with a beautiful rainbow sheen which is undulled. There is a small non feelable handling mark visible in daylight on side three. Side four grades at or around near MINT with only the tiniest of handling marks visible on close inspection. Under a strong halogen desklight nothing much more is revealed other than ultra faint handling/sleeve removal marks

In summary; well preserved discs that are visually impressive. Both discs lay 100% flat on the turntable.

Labels:  EXC+/MINT-

All labels are clean and fresh with no writing or personalization to any parts of the labels. Label one has only 2 or 3 light spindle trails indicating that side two has received very few plays, I would say certainly less than 5 plays. There are slightly more spindle trails on the other 3 labels but it is clear that neither disc has received very many plays; this is evidenced by the completely unworn and sharp edged spindle holes.

All labels carry the ‘Sold in UK…’ label text positively dating to 1968.

Audio: EXC+ to MINT-

Superb audio throughout with very little to fault. I did detect some some light surface noise in places when played at high volume. There is no groove wear or distortion to any of the music signals. The easily damaged While My guitar Gently Weeps plays superbly as does Blackbird and Julia. Tracks such as I’m So Tired and Sexy Sadie have the rich analogue sound associated with these 1st UK pressings. A great listening experience.

Cover

EXCELLENT

An original 1968 1st issue top opening numbered sleeve (0493311) in truly excellent condition. Apart from some wear and light bruising to the outer corners on the right hand side of the sleeve there is very little to fault. The front panel is clean and retains much of its original cream appearance (1st issue covers from 1968 never had the white appearance that modern re-issues have). The front panel is free from any marks and the laminate over the word ‘The Beatles’ is undamaged. The interior gatefold is well preserved. The spine has the usual areas of laminate flaking but is undamaged and grades at excellent.

Inner-sleeves EXCELLENT-

Original 1968 black inners. There are no seam splits to black inners.

Photos EXCELLENT+

A great set of original 1st issue photos on the thick stock of card. Positively from 1968 .

Poster  VG+

An original Garrod & Lofthouse ‘lipstick’ poster that positively dates to 1968. The poster is fully intact and has no writing or pin holes. There are general handling creases to the poster.
