READ THIS! These records are NOT sold for perfect sound quality. They’re sold for their scarcity and VISUAL grading. They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning. I can’t test-play at the minute. Please don’t bid if this is a problem for you.
Beatles LP Record Club 1969 “Yesterday”…and Today Green Target HYBRID PLATES, EX!
This is the only Record Club copy of any title that I’ve ever seen with a hybrid set of plates. Dead wax info on Side 1 is without question from the lathe of the Decca/Pinckneyville plant. Side 2 is from Capitol.
Vinyl--- EX/EX. Record shines 99% brand new with just a few extremely light hairlines per side. They barely show up in the light, and they absolutely don’t show on camera. Beautiful copy.
Plates--- Curiously, side 1 plate has what looks like a Decca plate. There is no alpha-numeric designation, but there is Decca’s machine-stamped catalogue number, which includes the extra numeral “8.”
Most copies I’ve ever seen have the handwritten catalogue number with the alpha-numeric designation. Side 2 has that. It’s Capitol’s refreshed A1 plate.
Check your copy.
Cover--- VG. Cover has all the features of a Record Club issue. Three diagonal black stripes on the top seam near the spine. Catalogue number on back cover and spine with the additional numeral “8.”
Cover presents VG+, but there’s a small ½-inch split at the top right corner, and a 2 ½-inch split at the bottom right. Collectors know that these covers were made from recycled paper towels, and they age poorly.
This one still looks nice, but under no circumstance should you store the album inside it if you want to keep it looking respectable.
Back cover has yellowed. The worst is around the periphery.
Labels--- EX/VG+. Side 1 looks nearly new, except for one extremely light spindle mark that was very hard to see, much less photograph. Side 2 label has light to moderate label damage. See photo.
Capitol Inner Sleeve--- VG+. Generic white inner sleeve with no die-cut hole for the labels to show is present. Sleeve has minimal wrinkles and has lightly and uniformly yellowed. NO SEAM SPLITS.
A generic inner sleeve will be provided, so as not to damage your original Capitol inner sleeve en route.

**If you’ve never seen one of these before, count on not ever seeing another one. I found this copy in the late 80’s, and have been looking for a second copy ever since. They aren’t out there. **
As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up. Thanks!)
