Description

Up for auction is a beautiful copy of the super-rare 'Version 1' Vee-Jay release, "Introducing The Beatles" (VJLP 1062) in MONO.  Released early January, 1964, this is the rare, short-lived LP which included hits 'Love Me Do' and 'P.S. I Love You'.  This of course proved to be a problem, since Capitol Records owned the rights to those 2 songs, and within 1 month, VJ was forced to stop selling "Introducing..." with those 2 songs on the LP.  1 month exactly after it's initial release, 'Introducing..." now played 'Ask Me Why' and 'Please, Please Me', instead of 'Love Me Do' and 'P.S.'

Thus, this Version 1 copy is among the rarest of all Beatles' releases, and a treasure to find in such amazing condition.  The LP grades VG++, with only a few surface markings. The original shine is still there!  The playback of the entire record is quiet, not a skip, and full sounding.  The labels are in Excellent shape- this is the colorband label with the Oval Vee Jay logo and centered-print of the tracklistings.  "Long Playing" at 9 o'clock, and "Microgroove" at 3 o'clock.

Comes with the original white "Great Gospel Artists Are On Vee Jay" inner sleeve, pretty good shape: only a 3-4 inch seam split bottom-center but the rest is solid!  And the 'Column-back' cover is amazing, as you can see in the pictures.  Very slight hints of ringwear, no splits, the opening is rock solid, and the spine is solid and legible, end to end!

A great example of an absolute classic Beatles release, rare in any condition, but a copy this clean is few and very far between these days.
