The Beatles - Hey Jude
This truly outstanding 'final-upgrade' copy of the Beatles' second compilation album is a 1971 UK export 1st pressing on the dark green Apple Records label.
Originally released exclusively for the US market, EMI UK pressed a small number of copies themselves specifically for export. Within this short production run a fraction were released with misprinted labels. This copy has a single misprint: the song 'Paperback Writer' is incorrectly printed as 'Paper Back Writer'. Consequently, this is an extremely rare and sought-after record!
The vinyl is housed in the original fully laminated Garrod & Lofthouse sleeve which correctly states the export catalogue number in the top right hand corner on the reverse side.
Completing the album is the original 'patents pending' inner sleeve.

The labels are bright, clean and without writing. Only very light spindle marks can be seen to both sides.
Visual: EXCELLENT
The record displays superb, 'factory-fresh' deep-gloss playing surfaces. Only a couple of very light paper scuffs can be seen to either side in bright daylight. Underneath the glare of a halogen desk lamp a few barely visible wispy paper hairlines can be seen alongside an iridescent rainbow shine.
Sound Quality: EXCELLENT +

As is evident from the recordings, this copy has been played cautiously on good quality equipment. There is great channel separation, clear vocals and a punchy treble and bass. There are two subtle pops on 'Can't buy Me Love'. There are three subtle pops on 'Hey Jude'. Otherwise there is nothing to note. A superb aural reproduction!
I feel that it is important to state for those not familiar with this record that the distortion present to the guitar on the last track of Side 1, 'Revolution', was an artistic decision made by the band and not any issue with this particular record or pressing. According to legend, the studio engineer, Geoff Emerick, suggested to both George and John that they should plug their guitars directly into the mixing desk and turn the relevant channels 'all the way up to 11'.
Sleeve: EXCELLENT
This 1st class sleeve looks great. Both sides retain the original lustre and the cover art maintains bright colours. There are several laminate ripples to the spine. The corners are strong but show very subtle softening. The opening edge shows only very minor wear. The top and bottom edges are without wear. A very tidy example.
Inner Sleeve: EXCELLENT
The original inner sleeve is in great condition. It is still very white with minimal creasing. Also included in the sale is an audiophile quality, anti-static inner sleeve to help protect and preserve the fantastic record.
The record will be sent via an insured courier in a padded vinyl mailer.
