- For sale is an authentic, Beatles ‘2nd State’ jacket aka the butcher cover paste-over. Issued in 1966, this recalled LP was pasted over with the familiar trunk cover slick. This is a beautiful copy - still in the shrink wrap - so no attempt at peeling!
There’s no question as to whether it’s a 2nd state as a sliver of the butcher cover is showing at the bot. lf. corner. [See pic #5] RIAA #6 is on back. The only issue with this jacket is the shrink is torn across the top seam about 1/2 way across and onto the middle back. NO Pieces are Missing and No tape was added. There’s some discoloration on front near song titles and on back at top where shrink was uncovered. [see pix 9 & 10] Not a big deal but worth mentioning. Jacket is otherwise clean & white from being protected by shrink wrap for 55+ yrs.
It’s extremely hard to find 2nd state jackets still in their original shrink.
Comes with Capitol Records company inner slv. The LP is in exc. cond. and grades VG++ to NM-. As an added bonus the winner will receive a reproduction mono butcher slick - exact size & color of the original. Frame these together or show your friends what’s beneath the trunk cover.
