THE BEATLES: ‘BEATLES FOR SALE’ – AN ORIGINAL 1964 UK FIRST ISSUE BLACK AND YELLOW PARLOPHONE MONO VINYL LP – PMC 1240

RARELY OFFERED WITH BOTH RECORD AND GATEFOLD SLEEVE IN FLAWLESS ALMOST MINT CONDITION, JUST STUNNING!!

Summary:

‘BEATLES FOR SALE’ was the band’s Fourth UK album, released by EMI/Parlophone on 4 December 1964. The album went straight to Number 1, knocking The Beatles previous album, A Hard Day’s Night off the top slot!

RARELY SEEN IN THIS IMMACULATE CONDITION, this is a TOP INVESTMENT Quality example, with BOTH the HEAVYWEIGHT Vinyl LP and the Original First Issue GATEFOLD Sleeve in the FINEST, just short of MINT condition. The sleeve on this EARLY Beatles Album is usually prone to wear, however, this one has been so BEAUTIFULLY PRESERVED – An EXCEPTIONAL all round example which would NEVER REQUIRE UPGRADING.

Album Description/Condition

Released by EMI/Parlophone UK on 4 December 1964, this FIRST ISSUE MONO Vinyl LP is on the traditional BLACK AND YELLOW PARLOPHONE Label, with ‘The Parlophone Co Ltd’ label rim, ‘Sold in UK…’ , ‘Recording First Published 1964’ and ‘Made in Gt Britain’ printed to both sides of the record labels.

Both sides of the record labels are, without doubt, a tad short of mint. They are both GORGEOUS - UNDAMAGED and UNFADED, with nothing more than just a couple of barely visible centre spider trails.

Both sides of the HEAVYWEIGHT vinyl disc too are just short of mint. Difficult to fault the BARELY PLAYED vinyl playing surfaces in any way. BEAUTIFUL, GLOSSY Vinyl, looks as it would have done on its day of issue.

Side 1 matrix XEX 503-4N and Side 2: XEX 504-3N.
Side 1 stampers: 3/ADT and Side 2: 2/G.

The embossed ‘KT’ tax/price code is barely visible to the centre of the Side 1 record label.

Audio Quality:

The album plays as GOOD AS IT LOOKS – its just SUPERB through ALL the tracks – plays without faults, just a pure POWERFUL EARLY MONO Sound Quality.

The album comes in an ORIGINAL Lined Use ‘Emitex’ Printed Inner Bag which is in near mint condition. This is a LOVELY, CLEAN example with NO seam splits, NO tearing, NO handwriting, with just some light inevitable creasing.

And is housed in its ORIGINAL First issue LAMINATED Garrod and Lofthouse GATEFOLD sleeve, with cover photography by Robert Freeman taken in Hyde Park, with sleeve notes by Derek Taylor.

UNUSUALLY, this RICH COLOURED First Issue Gatefold sleeve is IMMACULATE. The majority that we see, due to the delicate construction of the Gatefold sleeve, tend to suffer from a lot of wear and tear to the edges and seams. This ULTRA GLOSSY Sleeve has a BEAUTIFUL near mint front and reverse panel, AND a near mint inner Gatefold, with NO damage whatsoever – VERY RARE!! The pleated Spine Edge is PERFECT, and the wording ‘Beatles For Sale’ CLEAR as the day it was printed. It’s really very difficult to fault this PRISTINE sleeve, and we cannot detect any record indentation to the sleeve either!

By far, the most EXCEPTIONAL example of this EARLY UK Beatles Mono LP that we have offered on ebay for a long while. It’s UNUSUAL to find an example with BOTH the Record AND the Sleeve in matching TOP condition like this one. TOP DRAWER example, which could not disappoint any collector.
