*Well folks here's a COMPLETE Let It Be 1st pressing Boxset*
This was the Beatles' 13th and final offical album release. Released on the 8th of May 1970, it reached the number 1 slot just over two weeks later and stayed there for 3 weeks. It was also, sadly, to prompt the Beatles' last live performance: on top of the Apple Building in London on the 30th of January 1969.
An interesting little bit about this album is the cover was originally intended to be the cover which was used for the Beatles' compilation in 1973 for their 'Red' and 'Blue' album.
Even though recording for the album was finished by the end of May '69, it wasn't until March 1970, when Phil Spector was brought in, when it finally got released.
So, here follows the details of this little beauty:
Catalogue number: PXS 1
Matrix Numbers:
Side 1: YEX 773-2U
Side 2: YEX 774-2U
Mothers & Stampers:
Side 1: 1/OO
Side 2: 2/GT
**INCREDIBLY EARLY PRESSING**
Vinyl:
142g
VG.
CLEANED WITH Pro-Ject VCS MkII Vacuum Record Cleaner
The vinyl has just a small handful of light marks to her....Nothing feelable at all. Side 1 has visual marks to tracks 2, 3 & 4, but these had just a little affect on playback, as described below...
Certainly not jumps or skips!
On loud playback I noticed just some very faint and VERY occasional light and soft pops mainly noticed inbetween just a couple of tracks-I did note there was a light revolutionary pop on 'Dig A Pony' for a small section, just about noticeable in a very quiet section..There was also a small section on 'Across The Universe,' towards the end of the track, inbetween the next track and lightly into "I Me Mine"..But none of them lasted long and they did not have any effect on my enjoyment of the deep, warm playback...I am being very critical as these 'pops' were, mainly, very faint and quite insignificant....The most audible were the pops at the end of track 3 and into track 4, side 1. Without thess small pops it would've made an EX- rating, at least.
The audio was, in the majority, perfectly clear and rich-a pure pleasure to listen to....Even the fade in and out of the tracks are lovely and clear.
LET IT BE shone out in all it's glory, being wonderfully clean and clear-Tirn her up-I did :)
Side 2 didn't have any issues of anything important to mention-other than the lovely rich, clean and clear audio!
FLAT AS THE DAY SHE WAS BORN & STILL RETAINS THE GLORIOUS SHEEN
Labels:
EX.
Original DARK GREEN 1st pressing labels. Lovely and clean. Barely any hole wear to mention...just some very light spindle marks, visible only when angled to the light and looking for them(!)-really absolutley nothing to worry about at all.
The label to side 1 has a small factory defect to the edge-please see the images for yourselves...It's not bad.
NO WRITING
Shines out bright, with the deep green Apple.
VERY DISPLAYABLE
Record Sleeve:
EX-.
RED APPLE
Glorious glossy sheen to both the front and back.
The corners have some light storage wear.
The spine is superbly clear and flat, with barely any rubbing and remains perfectly legible.
The Apple to the back is RED-showing it to be the very first pressing...If you need more convincing than the end matricies as well as the Mothers and Stampers! Not often at all you get to see these up for sale!
There's only around 5 small crescents of spidering to the laminate, mainly near the opening with some small fingers of spidering emanating from the seams...Really nothing offensive at all.
NO WRITING
NO RIPS OR TEARS
WOULD FRAME INCREDIBLY WELL
Record Inner:
NEAR MINT!
Die-cut plain white inner. No writing...
It is the earliest example you can find as it carries the much rarer "PATENTS APPLIED FOR" text to the bottom left corner of one side.
As well as "MADE IN ENGLAND"
Just light discolouration and some very light creasing...W-O-W!
Outer Cover:
VG(+).
When taking the inner tray out of the outer cover, the cover still keeps it's shape-this is how I have photographed her. Now that's a good solid example! (most I have seen collapse when the inner tray support has been taken away).
To the front, the pictures are lovely and clear-gorgeous sheen to the fully laminated outer cover. The corners are solid too, with just a small degree of storage wear to one side, with the right hand side having just slightly more as two corners have very small splits of just around 5mm each....I am being very honest, open and critical here.
There are only around 10 small fingers of creasing emanating from the edges.
Superb, SOLID example!
It really is in great shape.
NO WRITING
The back of the outer cover has the credit of..
"Designed By John Kosh Photographs by Ethan A Russell Printed and made in Great Britain by Garrod & Lofthouse Limited (Patents Pending)" to the bottom
***REMAINS A VERY COLLECTABLE COPY***
(AGAIN: PLEASE SEE THE DETAILED IMAGES FOR YOURSELVES-AND SEE MY FEEDBACK FOR POSITIVE REVIEWS AND HAPPY CUSTOMERS)
Inner Trays:

**BOTH HAVE SURVIVED-NOT A REPRODUCTION PIECE IN SIGHT**
It is the ORIGINAL all black inner tray, with the rounded corners and has survived incredibly well.
The card inner, where the book is housed, has also been very well looked after for all of these years. There is some handling wear and creeping little tears to the inner corners, with two sections of it coming away from the rest-please see the detailed images.
Hard to find these in any condition.
AGAIN-VERY CRITICAL HERE!
The Book:
EX+.
Brilliantly shiny cover with just 8 or 9 small thumbnail sized crescents of spidering..nothing offensive-please see the detailed images for yourselves.
NO LOOSE PAGES.
Gently rubbed corners only.
NO WRITING
Gloriously glossy pictures with all their original color.
ALL ORIGINAL AND COMPLETE
SUPERB TO FIND THIS BOOK IN THIS CONDITION AFTER ALL OF THESE YEARS-MOST HAVE LOOSE PAGES-BUT THIS DOES NOT :)
