Description

Bach St Matthew Passion, boxed set of vinyl LPs - played no more than once or twice and in excellent condition.  Original box, sleeves and notebook with superb colour illustrations and notes on the music including the text in German and English.

This recording (in German) was made in 1962 as far as I can see.  It is on the Columbia Stereophonic label (sky blue and silver plates on the centre of the records - the first disc is recorded on the first side only. Numbers on discs: YAX 836-844; SAX 2446-2450). Otto Klemperer conducts the Philharmonia Orchestra and Choir, Dietrich Fischer Dieskau is Jesus and Peter Pears the Evangelist.  Other soloists are: Elisabeth Schwarzkopf, Christa Ludwig, Nicolai Gedda and Walter Berry.

This is a highly collectable set - Good luck!
