Description
Artist: JIMMY SMITH
Title: “A Date With Jimmy Smith, Vol. 1’”
Label: BLUE NOTE. Monaural pressing on thick vinyl. Label address on both sides is “Blue Note Records * 47 West 63rd * New York 23” with deep groove. Etched RVG with “ear” symbol in runout, on both sides. Catalog number is BLP 1547.
Year: 1957.
Personnel: Donald Byrd – trumpet; Lou Donaldson – alto sax; Hank Mobley – tenor sax; Jimmy Smith – organ; Eddie Mc Fadden – guitar; Art Blakey or Donald Bailey* - drums.
Condition:
DISC: Vinyl is nice VG++ with 100% of original gloss, appears to have been played a very small number of times and handled with care. There are a few minor scuffs, not audible save for an occasional isolated soft tic, and the fidelity is superb. Labels are clean. This is a great sounding record.
JACKET: Jacket is VG to VG+ with obvious signs of wear and handling, but still quite serviceable. Front art work is nice and bright. The seams and spine have a bit of minor chipping, and the corners are worn. Reverse displays surface wear and minor soiling, with a minor stain at the top. No writing or stickers.
