Description

This is a very nice copy of this scarce, very desirable BLUE NOTE album, "LOU DONALDSON: SUNNY SIDE UP", featuring LOU DONALDSON, ALTO SAX, BILL HARDMAN, TRUMPET, HORACE PARLAN, PIANO, SAM JONES or LAYMON JACKSON, BASS, AND AL HAREWOOD, DRUMS. This is BRILLIANTLY PERFORMED, hard swinging LATE 50's BLUE NOTE JAZZ at its best! Without question, one of LOU DONALDSON'S BEST records!

This LP was released in the LATE 50's, and this is an ORIGINAL PRESSING. It features the well known DOUBLE SIDED DEEP GROOVE Blue and White label. It features the 47 WEST 63RD NYC Blue Note address on the labels. The run out groove has the "ear" as well as the Rudy Van Gelder stamp. It also has the matrix BN LP 4036 A(and B) hand etched in the run out grooves. The labels are  clean, with no spindle marks. The LP itself is the thick, heavy vinyl associated with these late 50s Deep Groove pressings. This LP is in very conservatively rated VG/VG+ with clean, bright playing surfaces. There are a few light visible hairline marks. Nothing major. This is why Ive rated this LP VG/VG+, and have put the LP up with a very reasonable reserve for an original DOUBLE SIDED DEEP GROOVE pressing. It plays VG+, but may on your initial glance look VG/VG+, because of a very few light marks.  I have played this LP, and it plays beautifully, with very little back round noise. The sound is beautiful...that classic, gorgeous, rich Blue Note sound, but of course, there might be an occasional pop or click. This is a 60 year old record, and its not absolutely flawless. Its all about the music, and this LP plays great!
The classic heavy GLOSSY LAMINATED cardboard cover is in VG+ condition, with solid spine, and solid top and bottom seams. There is only a slight creasing about 2 inches in from opening of jacket, probably from the previous owner removing the LP from the jacket.  The LP cover has moderate shelf wear for an album that is close to 60 years old. The classic cover with its distinctive graphics, are sharp and clear.
I am a Jazz Pianist and Recording Artist, and have been collecting Rare Jazz LPs for many years. This is one from my personal collection. I assure you, all the LPs I will be offering here have been meticulously taken care of, and only played rarely, on a Sota Sapphire Turntable, with a Grado Reference Cartridge. They have been kept inside a temperature controlled room in my home, in plastic dust jackets. In other words, you can bid in confidence, knowing these LPs come from someone who has loved them and babied them. I reluctantly am beginning to sell some of my LPs, and hope they go to someone who will love them as I have.

All LPs will be carefully packed in strong, proper LP boxes, well protected, and sent USPS PRIORITY MAIL or EXPRESS MAIL so proper tracking is available. Media Rate for domestic shipments is available, but really not recommended. For overseas buyers, ( Europe, Asia, Australia, South America, etc)  we recommend PRIORITY MAIL, EXPRESS MAIL, or REGISTERED MAIL for proper tracking. We keep very close watch on all shipments through United States Post Office and Customs. Shipping costs are always based on your location. I do not add "handling"fees, costs will be exactly as I am charged by the shipper of choice. Good Luck to all bidders!
