THE BEATLES "LET IT BE" 1970 FIRST PRESSING BOXED SET. APPLE PXS 1 & PCS 7096 - YEX 773/774 -2U
The last album released by The Beatles, before their break-up was announced in April 1970. Original copies came as a limited edition deluxe package, which comprises the LP along with a 160 page colour 'Get Back' book, housed in a custom die-cut and recessed two-piece cardboard tray which then fits into+ an outer slipcase.
CONDITION:
SLIPCASE: The glossy slipcase is in great shape with just very minor corner wear and a few very small and faint laminate creases, which do not in any way detract from the appearance. EX+
INNER TRAY: The matt-black inner tray is original. It does have a break on one corner (see photo), but is otherwise is solid with no other defects apart from just a few very light, small creases. Graded VG+
OUTER TRAY: has no major defects, but displays moderate creasing to the side flaps. VG
"GET BACK" BOOKLET: The 160 page glossy book has many interesting pictures from the "Let It Be" recording sessions. Our copy looks like it has been rarely opened and is therefore in superb condition. There were a few minor variations to the the book during the production run; this version has the publishing information that begins with “Designed by John Kosh” and ends with “By Apple Publishing” printed on the credits page and starts with a blank black page. Graded EX+
LP SLEEVE: The laminated sleeve, which has the RED APPLE LOGO on the rear, is in great condition, with sharp unfeathered edges and a strong unmarked spine. There is a thumb-sized indent to the front of the opening edge and a couple of small, faint laminate creases that are barely noticeable. Graded EX+
INNER SLEEVE: The correct original plain white inner sleeve, with Patent No. 1,125,555 and Made In England printed on it, is clean and undamaged. Graded EX+
LABEL: The dark green FIRST PRESSING label has a wider gap between the side number and track listing than copies issued later in 1970. Side one has a couple of small, barely noticeable spindle marks and side two a few slightly more obvious ones. No other marks or damage. EX+
VINYL: The vinyl displays no faults to the naked eye and retains a natural sheen that looks factory fresh. Audio replay on a Thorens TD124 turntable with Goldring cartridge was superb, free from crackle or distortion with no clicks, pops, sticks or skips. Graded NM
TO SUMMARISE: This is an excellent copy of an increasingly hard to obtain classic album, especially in this condition. Aside from the one tray break and the creasing to the tray side-flaps, this original "LET IT BE" Boxed Set is in Excellent condition overall and would grace any first class Beatles collection.
