Description
This is a wonderful copy of this desirable BLUE NOTE album, THE CAT WALK, by legendary Jazz Trumpeter, DONALD BYRD from the late 1950s/early 1960's, featuring PEPPER ADAMS, Baritone Sax, DONALD BYRD,Trumpet, DUKE PEARSON, Piano, LAYMON JACKSON, Bass, and PHILLY JOE JONES, Drums. This is quintessential BLUE NOTE 50's/early 60's JAZZ at its best.
This LP was released in the late 50s (possibly early 60s), and this is probably a first pressing. It features the well known Blue and White label(not deep groove, I doubt this LP was ever released as deep groove). It features the BLUE NOTE NEW YORK USA label. The run out groove has the hand etched BLP # 4075, as well as Rudy Van Gelder's initials (RVG). The labels are clean. The LP itself is the thick vinyl associated with these later 50s/early 60s pressings. This LP is in a very conservatively rated MINT/MINT- condition, with clean, bright playing surfaces, NO MARKS, no scratches at all. The sound is BREATHTAKING:...that classic, gorgeous, rich Blue Note sound, but of course, there possibly will be an occasional pop or click even though visually its almost flawless . Ive been advised by a friend who is a very experienced seller to be very conservative on my ratings, as Im an avid collector, but a relatively new "seller".The cover is in VG+ condition,with solid spines and seams (except one small separation top seam dead center), and normal shelf wear for an album that is close to 60 years old. The classic cover image, by Francis Wolff, and the distinctive graphics, are sharp and clear.
I am a Jazz Pianist and Recording Artist, and have been collecting Rare Jazz LPs for many years. This is one from my personal collection. I assure you, all the LPs I will be offering here have been meticulously taken care of, and only played rarely, on a Sota Sapphire Turntable, with a Grado Reference Cartridge. They have been kept inside a temperature controlled room in my home, in plastic dust jackets. In other words, you can bid in confidence, knowing these LPs come from someone who has loved them and babied them. I reluctantly am beginning to sell some of my LPs, and hope they go to someone who will love them as I have.
All LPs will be carefully packed in proper LP boxes, well protected,and sent USPS Media Rate, unless specifically needed sooner. We can send priority mail if desired. Shipping costs are always based on your location. I do not add "handling"fees, costs will be exactly as I am charged by the shipper of choice. LPs can also be sent Fed-Ex ground, if preferred, although this can be a bit more expensive. Good Luck!
