Rare, 1st UK Press in Gatefold Sleeve, on the Vertigo swirl label
Vertigo Records VO 6 Made in UK Year of release - 1970
First Pressing indicators:
- First issue released on the ''swirl'' Vertigo label with big logo above spindle hole and the wording ''Vertigo'' below spindle hole and 'A PHILIPS RECORD PRODUCT' text.
- Comes in a gatefold cover and with a ''swirl'' inner bag. The gatefold cover is slightly textured compared to later issues and has different upper-case only credits on inner gatefold.
- Vertigo inner sleeve reports: 'MADE IN ENGLAND British Patent No. 800513 & 973939 - PLASTIC BAGS CAN BE DANGEROUS - TO AVOID SUFFOCATION KEEP THIS BAG AWAY FROM BABIES AND CHILDREN'
- The first issue had an erroneous copyright warning stating that “Copyright subsists in all Stereo recordings…”. Subsequent ''swirl'' Vertigo reissues corrected copyright warning to “Copyright subsists in all Vertigo recordings…”
- The first (this release) and 2nd versions had band member and production credits in capital letters throughout. Subsequent ''swirl'' Vertigo reissues changed all credits into upper and lower case and also adds in composition and publishing credits.
- All issues released on the ''swirl'' Vertigo misspell Ozzy Osbourne as Ossie Osborne.
Condition:
Vinyl/labels: VG
Some light hairlines/surface marks visible, but they do not affect play unduly. Plays great, with no sticks/jumps, only occasional light tics and some light background.
Gatefold Sleeve: VG
There is a scuff in top left corner above the word "BLACK"; some light edge wear, and a few small, light creases.
Vertigo Inner Sleeve: VG
The sleeve has a little bit of writing in top left corner; a small tear at the die-cut centre; and some light creasing.
Important Information: Postage & Packaging
Records are packaged safely using strong stiff cardboard and extra bubble wrap to ensure they arrive in the same condition as in my description. I also remove record from outer sleeve and original inner sleeves, to prevent seam splits. I am a record collector myself and understand the importance of safe packaging to ensure safe delivery.
