Black Sabbath : Heaven And Hell A2 / B3 2nd press 1980

This very early second pressing plays to a superb standard with barely any interference.  In fact the only real intrusion are some dull clicks right at the end of the fade out on the first track on S1.  Aside from that it plays with great clarity, depth and power without any background apart from a little static on 3/4 more fade outs.

The cover is in excellent shape with only some wear on the edges and the original inner is also in excellent condition.

I'm sure this was still pressed in 1980 but as it has the Essex Music / Carlin Music credit on the labels I think it's safe to assume it's a second pressing.

Visual description

The vinyl is in very good condition with a strong glossy sheen and no scratches.  Under a bright light I can see some faint hairlines with a couple on S2 that are a little more obvious but there is nothing that affects the audio.  The Vertigo labels are very clean with only a little spindle wear.

Play grading

'Neon Knights' plays with superb clarity and power for the vast majority i.e. 99%!  The intrusion is four dull clicks right at the end of the fade out.  It seems harsh to downgrade a whole track because of the fade out so I think Near Mint- is fair.

The acoustic intro on 'Children Of The Sea' is perfect and Dio's opening vocal is just as strong.  As the volume increases the audio is 'as new' and it continues in the same precise way.  Each is note is so clean and precise and the next acoustic section has no background either and the remainder plays with stunning precision also.  This is Mint from start to finish.

'Lady Evil' again plays with real quality throughout.  The sonic quality is stunning and that is helped considerably by Butler's deep bass sound.  The clarity of sound is perfect and this is without doubt another Mint track. 

The title track 'Heaven And Hell' ends the side with superb sonic quality.  Then entire intro is perfect and Dio's opening vocal is equal to that.  Butler's bass again adds so much to the overall sound here and it continues to play with such clean, strong and deep audio.  Every vocal and instrumental section is stunning and there is no 'muddiness' to the sound and no inner groove distortion either.  The fast paced end section plays with great quality and the closing acoustic section plays so clearly with hardly any static.  Mint-

'Wishing Well' keeps up the good work and plays with exceptional clarity and power from start to finish.  A stunning Mint version.

The quiet intro on 'Die Young' plays so clearly with only a couple of minor statics and once Iommi and co join in the playback is flawless.  The first vocal is just as impressive and from then on plays with great power and depth.  The quieter mid section has no background and remainder is just as strong, a couple of minor ticks right at the end of the fade out only.  A Mint- track.

'Walk Away' is of the same standard with no interference.  Just a couple of statics at the end of the fade out again. Mint-

'Lonely Is The Word' completes the album with high end audio once more.  There are no negatives and the only background is a little static at the end of the fade out.  Mint-

The Cover & Inner

This cover is in excellent condition with only some light shelf wear.  It's mainly restricted to the edges, some on the top edge and a little more on the bottom edge.  The spine is in superb shape and the four corners have only a little wear, a bit more bottom right.  The opening edge has barely any handling wear and both the front and back cover are very clean without any marking.  A very strong example.

The original poly-lined 'Plastic Bags...' inner has no side splits or tears and only minimal creasing.  It does have some of the usual marking around the edges caused by the glue holding the paper and poly-liner together.

I will only send items items worldwide via tracked shipping.  This provides 'peace of mind' in case of loss or damage.  The shipping costs are shown below and combined shipping is always offered.  Any over-payment will always be refunded.

The Royal Mail only insure up to a value of £250 so if an item sells for more it may be wise to use a courier service (e.g. Parcelforce or DPD).  An extra insurance premium will be required but I will not know the exact amount until the final sale price is known.  Because of this I will sometimes have to estimate the cost and this will be shown in the listing.  Please wait for the invoice before making payment and if you have any questions please feel free to ask.  Many thanks.

All vinyls are packaged in strong over-sized custom made mailers with plenty of extra cardboard protection.  They are placed inside separate poly-lined inners outside the cover so as to avoid seam splits in transit and then placed inside a PVC sleeve to provide even more protection.  I pride myself on my high quality packaging as my feed confirms and if any customer has any specific requirements I am more than happy to help.

The mailers I use cost £1.00 each and I will use anything between 3-5 cardboard stiffeners which cost approx £0.18 each.  There is also the cost of the poly-lined inner and PVC sleeve to consider, it all adds up!  Not forgetting that eBay take 10% of the shipping fee also!!
