Description
BLACK SABBATH First Album
You are viewing my 12" vinyl album from 1970 performed by 'BLACK SABBATH' and entitled simply, 'BLACK SABBATH'. Released on the Vertigo label, reference number VO6, this was Sabbaths' debut album. The album reached number eight on the UK Albums Chart and has been recognised as one of the main albums to be credited with the development of the heavy metal genre.
This is the extremely rare very FIRST PRESSING version of the album. It is listed together with the genuine and original FIRST PRESSING gatefold sleeve. Both of which are distinguishable as they have the following features:
Record:
Large Vertigo Swirl on the centre label
Has the text, 'Philips Record Product' on the centre label,
Matrix number VO6 1Y 1 420 (Side A) & VO6 2Y 1 420 (Side B)
Sleeve:
- Has the Black Gatefold Sleeve (not white)
- Matt version (not laminated)
- The inverted cross (crucifix) on the centre of the gatefold describes: 'Ozzy' Osbourne as 'OSSIE'
- There are no composers or publishers credits listed
- Bears the detail, "Copyright subsists in all stereo recordings".
The condition of the record itself I very critically grade as VG+. There are some light hairline and bag removal surface marks visible to both sides however (as the photographs show) the record remains glossy and clean, it plays well with no sticks or jumps. As it is a 'loud' album, the music sounds excellent although there is some light background noise between tracks and on the few quieter parts of the recording. Please note that this record is not in mint condition, it is a really good copy that looks good and plays well.
The album cover I very critically grade as VG. There are some signs of wear on the four corners, to the spine and to the mouth of the cover, there is some creasing (visible in the photograph). There are however no rips, tears or writings.
This extremely rare and sought after vinyl record will be posted in a top quality cruciform style record mailer.
I will be happy to answer any queries you may have and can supply further photographs if you wish, I would respectfully request you resolve any queries before buying.
