Sabbath Bloody Sabbath is the fifth studio album by the British heavy metal band Black Sabbath, released in 1973!!.

With this album, the band expanded upon their slow, crunching style of music and included synthesizers, strings, keyboards and more complex, orchestral arrangements!!

Following the 1972-1973 world tour in support of their Volume 4 album, Black Sabbath again returned to Los Angeles, California to begin work on their next album. Pleased with the Volume 4 album, the band sought to recreate the recording atmosphere, and returned to the Record Plant Studios with new producer and engineer Tom Allom!!. Although the album credits the band's manager Patrick Meehan as producer, guitarist Tony Iommi said "Meehan's ego got involved, and he stuck his name down as producer". With new musical innovations of the era, the band were surprised to find that the room they had used previously at the Record Plant was replaced by a "giant synthesizer". The band rented a house in Bel Air and began writing in the summer of 1973, but due in part to substance issues and fatigue, were unable to complete any songs. "Ideas weren't coming out the way they were on Volume 4 and we really got discontent" Iommi said. "Everybody was sitting there waiting for me to come up with something. I just couldn't think of anything. And if I didn't come up with anything, nobody would do anything."!!!

After a month in Los Angeles with no results, the band opted to return to England, where they rented Clearwell Castle in The Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire. "We rehearsed in the dungeons and it was really creepy but it had some atmosphere, it conjured up things, and stuff started coming out again". While working in the dungeon, Iommi stumbled onto the main riff of "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath", which set the tone for the new material. Yes keyboardist Rick Wakeman was brought in as a session player, appearing on "Sabbra Cadabra" and "Who Are You"!!!

Black Sabbath released Sabbath, Bloody Sabbath on December 1, 1973. For the first time in their career, the band began to receive favourable reviews in the mainstream press, with Rolling Stone calling the album "an extraordinarily gripping affair", and "nothing less than a complete success". Later reviewers such as All Music's Ed Rivadavia cite the album as "a masterpiece, essential to any heavy metal collection", while also displaying "a newfound sense of finesse and maturity"!

!.

The vinyl.

The vinyl is absolutely superbe on initial visual inspection this looks awesome still retains its sheen from new!!!!!! (please note this vinyl LOOKS UNPLAYED! ONLY ever played at all Perhapes one or two times that's all. In the last 25 years this has been stored in a case with the vinyl seperated from the sleeve and cover to prevent ringware and damage!!This is how i have always stored my records!! I have played this through track for track prior to listing and the audio quality is superbe TOP TOP TOP!cristal clear and extreemely vibrant!!!!(no) signs of any distortion or grooveware at all!! PLAYS AS NEW, AS GOOD AS IT GETS IN MY OPINION There are no audio sounding marks or scratches at all! at least (none) that effect the audio!!Any marks that could possibly be seen would be sleeve removal only! (To be honest i can't see any)    The audio on this pressing in my opinion is as good as it gets for a very early original !!!!Even in between tracks there is extreemely minimal noise!!!!! I would class myself as highly critical and this is a truly exceptional sounding vinyl and the 5th EVER ALBUM RELEASED  by this awesome band ''black sabbath'' and so hard to find like this!!!!!!!! Please check my completed listings of records that i have sold of this calaber and you will see that i normally get it right!!!!

Please note! That i always make this disclaimer! That although I never heard any clicks or pops during the play of this record please allow for the odd static crackle\tick here and there certainly not consistant throughout the audio, this is a genuine 35 year old vinyl that would have been played on a 35 year old system!!!!! THIS PLAYED  PERFECT ON MY SYSTEM !(NO) DISTORTION AND (NO) SIGNS THAT THIS HAS BEEN OVERPLAYED VERY RARE TO FIND! PLAYS AS NEW!

Points to note! This has been stored in a case laying dormant for at least 25 years! A build up of dirt and dust in the grooves from laying dormant causes static crackle\ticks! A constant clean before each play is recomended !!!! This would reduce any static and enhance the audio quality!!!!

Audio Sumery!

The best and most vibrant audio on vinyl comes from the earliest stampers\ 1st pressings, This plays through with no problems at all that I heard and will be hard to surpass! Played at very loud volume on a top system there were (no) loud clicks or pops and certainly (no) jumps or skips! perhapes allow for the very very (very) light static ticks\crackle that may be heard in very quiet places very common on 70s pressings (but to be honest i never heard any) and certainly nothing in my opinion that spoilt the overall awesome enjoyment of this album! I own many original copies of this album and this is one of the best that i have heard trul.y awesome!!

The Record Sleeve

This is the original (very (very) thin paper) lyric record sleeve with no splits or tares just light creasing with age!

The cover

This is the original unlaminated card gatefold cover! PRINTED IN ENGLAND Also the rarest to ever find with the  WIDER SPINE So hard to find in this superbe condition (no) splits or tares bare minimal creases\storageware worth to mention only slight\small dent at the spine nothing too bad (see photo)  super straight and square corners! Bare minimal marks to mention  rarely seen in this awesome top condition ORIGINAL!!MUST BE AT LEAST CONSERVATIVELY EXcellent !
