After all, which is a better name for a performer, Harold Holiday, or Black Boy Shine ? Seems the Vocalion went with the latter when they started recording this guy back in April of 1935. While those first sessions in Ft. Worth, Texas didn't ever get issued, by the time his next big session came around in November of 1936, he was in San Antonio and cut a whopping load of eight songs.
Not much known about this cat from Texas, but his two gigantic sessions have left us nearly 30 tracks, all from 1936-1937. He was recording the same sort of music, for the same company, at the same time, for the same label as Robert Johnson. You have to wonder if they knew each other or their paths crossed in Texas. His records don't turn up very often so get it while you can.

CONDITION: E / E- This appears E+ but plays quite different. "Dog House" has LESS wear in groove than other side, but both are clean and free from scratches and scuffs. Check sound sample to see how it plays.
