Great copy of this legendary private press sound art compilation released by visionary New York art dealer Ronald Feldman, complete with poster and pamphlet insert. Tracks range from noise music compositions and abstract sounds, to field recordings, to art rock, to spoken word experiments and artist talks. Highlights include Fox's gigantic string instrument sound sculpture drone, Smyth's chamber music for a trio of typewriters, Burroughs' tape-manipulated poetry reading in collaboration with Kowalski, Beuys' performance/discussion with Cooper Union students, Agnetti's piece for prepared drums and voice, and the philosophizing of Buckminster Fuller. Overall, an amazing document of the 70s/early 80s NYC avant garde art scene and Fluxus progeny spanning performance art, actions, conceptual art, text-sound, installation art, and musique concrete. This lp is listed in the Broken Music catalog of artists' record works.

Beuys was a German performance and installation artist, painter, influential art theorist, and political activist known for his use of unusual materials such as animal fat, his expanded definition of art as encompassing all activities and involving all people, and his ideas of "social sculpture"; he was a key early member of post-dada art group Fluxus associated with John Cage, La Monte Young, Yoko Ono, Nam June Paik, George Maciunas, Milan Knizak, Emmett Williams, Takehisa Kosugi, Walter Marchetti, Juan Hidalgo, Toshi Ichiyanagi, Philip Corner, Richard Maxfield, Henry Flynt, and Jackson Mac Low. • Burroughs was an experimental poet, drug literature legend, and leading figure of the beat poetry movement; he developed the cut-up technique with Brion Gysin, and also collaborated and associated with John Giorno, Anne Waldman, Lucien Carr, Jack Kerouac, Allen Ginsberg, Joan Vollmer, Gregory Corso, Herbert Huncke, Paul Bowles, Norman Mailer, J. G. Ballard, Alexander Trocchi, Jeff Nuttal, Andy Warhol, Patti Smith, Susan Sontag, Dennis Hopper, Terry Southern, Mick Jagger, Ministry, Gus Van Sant, Sonic Youth, Tom Waits, David Cronenberg, and Kurt Cobain. All records are shipped with poly plastic sleeves and with the vinyl outside of the cover to prevent damage. All packages are completely sealed with strong packing tape covering all openings.
