Beautiful copy of the rare original 1945 5-disc version of Bing's Merry Christmas 78 album on Decca Album 403. Features the original and by far the best version of White Christmas, as well as some wonderful songs with the Andrews Sisters. Reissued a couple of years later wjth only four discs, and with a re-recorded version of a White Christmas. This is the true original 1942 recording. Most people have heard this album on LP or CD, but when you hear the original 78s it is like hearing it for the first time. The sound is just wonderful on this original version of the record, and this copy really brings it out. Four of the five discs are just lovely and play absolutely beautifully. I would call them all NM, with only the tiniest signs of gentle use. Each one plays perfectly. There is one disc, however, sides 5 and 6, Home for the Holidays and Danny Boy, which is more like V+, with a small bit of wear. Still it plays beautifully with only minimal noise. Just a beautiful sounding set all around. The cover is also in exceptionally nice shape, almost the best I have ever seen. A bit of corner rubbing and signs of age but really clean and crisp, just gorgeous. Such a rare copy, with the 5-discs and in such amazing condition. Very hard to top this one.
