Description

Beautiful copy of the rare original 5-disc version of Bing's Merry Christmas 78 album on Decca A-403. Later editions, even only a year later, had only 4 discs. This is the very first edition of this Christmas classic, which has remained in print ever since, even to this day. Features the original and by far the best version of White Christmas, as well as some wonderful songs with the Andrews Sisters. Most people have heard it, but when you hear the original 78s it is like hearing it for the first time. The sound is just wonderful on this original version of the record, and this copy really brings it out. All five discs are in wonderful condition. The fifth disc, the one with the Andrews Sisters, is slightly more worn than the others but only slightly. I suppose I would call it VG+, and though it has a few scuffs it plays near flawlessly. The other four have very little wear, with just a few light surface scuffs that don't affect the play at all. The whole thing plays just beautifully and magically. The cover is even in exceptional condition, with the only real flaw being a blotch of white paint next to Bing's cheek. Aside from that it is remarkably clean, with minimal edge wear and an absolutely perfect spine with no rips at all. Strong binding and record pockets. This is truly a top original of this rare first version. Hard to beat...
