Description

ARTIST: THE BEATLES

TITLE: PLEASE PLEASE ME

CATALOGUE NUMBER: PMC 1202

DEAD WAX:

SIDE 1: XEX 421-1N (1/GP)

SIDE 2: XEX 422-1N (12/GH) number 2 is under the number 1

THIS IS THE MEGA RARE second press with "NORTHERN SONGS" credits and original first issue gold mono cover

FRONT COVER: NEAR MINT

The laminated front which has the LARGE mono in the top right corner and the "ANGUS MCBEAN" credit in the FAR BOTTOM RIGHT CORNER (this shows this is a FIRST ISSUE COVER,LATER COPIES CAME WITH THE CREDIT A BIT MORE TO THE MIDDLE,GOLD MONO`S NEVER CAME WITH THE LATER COVERS!) is very clean with no tears,stickers,writing or ring wear.The laminate is very clean and shiny with no laminate damage,there are just a few tiny edge creases but i am pleased to say NO HALF MOON CREASES on the middle of the cover or near the opening.The 4 corners are nice but rounded

BACK COVER: EXCELLENT+

The non laminated flipback back cover which has the ERNEST J DAY credit is very nice and very white..just a tiny hardly visible bit of wear near the opening and some damage on the bottom flipback (caused by tears)

SEAMS: MINT-/VERY GOOD

The top seams has no splits and generally no wear just a tiny little bit on the opening,the bottom has a 2 cm bit of wear and a 1 cm split at the opening

SPINE: MINT-

Really is perfect,solid and secure with all the text being clear and readable

INNER SLEEVE: MINT

The original EMITEX poly lined inner is perfect

LABELS: EXCELLENT++/EXCELLENT

The black/Gold parlophone labels which have much rarer "NORTHERN SONGS" label credits plus "The parlophone co" rim text and MT stamped on side 2 are very nice with no tears,stickers or writing.The spindle holes have NO DAMAGE and there are NO SPINDLE MARKS!.The gold text is clean and bright with no fading,on side 2 there are a couple of light marks (couple of lines next to edge of label and a couple of smudges again not covering any text).Side 1 is clean

RECORD (VISUAL): EXCELLENT+/EXCELLENT++

The record i am pleased to say is visually very impressive with full gloss and shine,no groove wear and just a few light marks/scratches which can be seen under strong light...NO FINGERNAIL SCRATCHES

RECORD(AUDIO): EXCELLENT

The records plays generally very well with all the tracks playing crystal clear with no sound distortion and it does not stick or jump.The only main defects i could hear are the following:

"Chains" couple of light clicks at the end of the song

"Baby it`s you" few light clicks

"Love me do" again few light clicks and light bits of crackle

BUT NONE OF THE ABOVE OVERSHADOW THE MUSIC AS IT PLAYS AND SOUNDS FANTASTIC WITH NO LOUD (BACON AND EGGS) CRACKLE
