BEATLES YESTERDAY & TODAY 1966 BUTCHER COVER 2ND STATE!

For auction is the infamous Beatles Butcher Cover of The Beatles called 'Yesterday & Today'

and is an ORIGINAL 1966 CAPITOL Mono Pressing

on the 'Rainbow' Capitol label!

Dead Wax Numbers

T12553 G-24

T22553 F-19

THIS LP IS SERIOUSLY RARE AND Very Hard TO FIND!!!!

THIS IS ONE OF THE RAREST BEATLES LP EVER - AND VIRTUALLY NEVER TURNS UP FOR SALE!!! BUT WHAT MAKES THIS LP REALLY SPECIAL IS THAT IT IS AN ULTRA RARE '2ND STATE' BUTCHER COVER PRESSING (WITH 'UNPEELED' TRUNK COVER HIDING THE BUTCHER COVER UNDERNEATH!) - AND IS IN VG CONDITION!!!!

AS MANY PEOPLE WILL ALREADY KNOW, THE INFAMOUS BUTCHER COVER WAS THE ORIGINAL COVER CAPITOL PLANNED TO USE ON THIS LP WHEN IT WAS 1ST PRESSED IN 1966. THE ORIGINAL COVER SHOWED THE BEATLES WEARING BUTCHER SMOCKS AND HOLDING CUTS OF MEAT AND DOLLS - WHICH WAS DESIGNED TO SHATTER THE BEATLES 'CLEAN-CUT' IMAGE!!!!

HOWEVER, WHEN THE FIRST FEW COPIES WERE SENT OUT TO RADIO STATIONS PRIOR TO RELEASE - THERE WAS A MASSIVE OUTCRY ABOUT THE 'POOR TASTE' OF THE COVER AND CAPITOL DECIDED TO WITHDRAW THE LP BEFORE THE ACTUAL RELEASE DATE!!!! ONLY A TINY HANDFUL OF COPIES GOT OUT WITH THE ORIGINAL BUTCHER COVER INTACT

(KNOWN AS THE 1ST STATE COVER) - BEFORE CAPITOL ISSUED AN ORDER TO DESTROY THEM. HOWEVER, MOST OF THE COVER MANUFACTURERS DECIDED IT WOULD BE FAR EASIER (AND MORE COST EFFECTIVE!) TO 'PASTE OVER' THE REMAINING BUTCHER COVERS WITH THE NEW APPROVED 'TRUNK' COVER PHOTO - RATHER THAN DESTROY THEM. THESE COVERS (WITH THE BUTCHER COVER PASTED OVER BY THE TRUNK COVER) ARE KNOWN AS 2ND STATE BUTCHER COVERS. OF COURSE, THIS ONLY  LASTED a Short  AMOUNT OF TIME, AND MOST COPIES OF THIS LP DONT HAVE A BUTCHER COVER UNDER THE TRUNK COVER,  OVER THE YEARS (APART FROM 1ST STATES) THIS '2ND STATE' BUTCHER COVER HAS BECOME THE RAREST VERSION OF ALL!!!! EVEN BACK IN 1966 MOST BUYERS OF THIS LP DECIDED TO RIP OFF THE TRUNK COVER TO SEE WHAT WAS

UNDERNEATH (USUALLY DESTROYING THE COVERS IN THE PROCESS!)

AND OVER THE YEARS, MORE '2ND STATE' BUTCHER COVERS

HAVE BEEN PEELED (USUALLY BADLY) TO BECOME A '3RD STATE' BUTCHER COVER

(WHICH IS WHAT 'PEELED' COVERS ARE KNOWN AS) - AND SO TODAY

AN UNPEELED '2ND STATE' BUTCHER COVER IN THIS CONDITION IS

EXTREMELY RARE INDEED (AS MOST HAVE BEEN PEELED)

THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO DOUBT AT ALL THAT '2ND STATE' BUTCHER COVERS  WILL ONLY  INCREASE IN VALUE AND BECOME EVER RARER AS MORE AND MORE' 2ND STATE' BUTCHER COVERS ARE 'PEELED' ON A DAILY BASIS!!

AND MY ADVICE TO ANYONE IS NEVER EVER PEEL IT.

YOU CAN SEE THE 'BUTCHER COVER' PICTURE ANYWHERE - AND THE TRUE RARITY IS KNOWING YOU HAVE AN ORIGINAL ONE AS A '2ND STATE' BUTCHER COVER IN VG CONDITION!!!! SO WHY FEEL THE NEED TO PEEL IT? AND CERTAINLY IF THE RATE OF 'PEELING' OF '2ND STATE' BUTCHER COVERS CONTINUES - THEN THERE IS NO DOUBT THAT ONE DAY SOON THIS '2ND STATE' BUTCHER COVER WILL BECOME THE RAREST

VERSION EVER & VERY HIGHLY PRIZED!!!! AND FOR THOSE WHO WANT TO KNOW HOW YOU CAN TELL A '2ND STATE' BUTCHER COVER (LIKE THIS ONE!) THEN YOU ONLY HAVE TO LOOK AT THE RIGHT HAND SIDE OF THE 'TRUNK' ON THE COVER FRONT -WHERE RINGO STAR'S 'V-NECK' DARK TOP CAN CLEARLY BE SEEN THROUGH THE WHITE COLOUR,

AND IF YOU LOOK REALLY CLOSELY YOU CAN MAKE OUT HAS FACE, AND LEGS TOO! JUST TAKE A LOOK AT THE PICTURES!!!!

THIS IS THE ORIGINAL 1966 U.S. '2ND STATE' BUTCHER COVER MONO PRESSING ON THE 1ST PRESS 'RAINBOW' CAPITOL LABEL, 1ST PRESS CAPITOL INNER SLEEVE, AND RARE '2ND STATE' BUTCHER COVER!!!! THIS LP IS SERIOUSLY RARE - SO DONT MISS OUT ON THIS AMAZING OPPORTUNITY!!!!

Record has surface marks-- I visually rate this record at VG

But it plays like VG+

The cover has a name written on the front and a small tear from sticker being taken off on back cover lower right corner. Cover Rated VG with no split seams.

GELGURL'S RECORDS AND THINGS I sell Vintage Records, Reel to Reels, 78's 45's and cassettes. Many of the Classic Rock albums are from my personal collection. Also check out our Handcrafted Drink Coasters, made from actual records! We can custom make a set for you. I use the: Goldmine Magazine Record Grading Standard M- or NM (Mint Minus or Near Mint) – Usually the highest grade. Records from the 1950s & 60s in this condition are truly rare. A very minor scuff and very little else will appear on the vinyl. This will most likely have occurred during packaging, or removing the record from the inner sleeve but had been handled with extreme care. It should play without any noise over the flaw. The flaw should be very hard to see. VG++ (Very Good Plus Plus) – Beautiful collectible condition. Only the slightest of wear, certainly no deep scratches. VG+ (Very Good Plus) - Great condition. Well cared for. VG+ may show wear, surface scuffs or very minor scratches that don't cause surface noise. The majority of well cared for records fall into this category. VG (Very Good) – Still good condition, but more wear than VG+.More surface scuffs and scratches. will be heard. They should not overpower the dynamics of the music. With VG records, the surface noise will be minor crackle or a slight hiss, but should only be heard in between tracks or in low musical passages. G (Good) – Lots of wear, but still playable. A good record will look very well played, However a Good record should still play. It will have distracting surface noise. Such as crackle or some hiss, but will play without any skips or any obtrusively loud pops or repeated clicks, caused by deep scratches. Good means that it will play with some form of decency, so one can still enjoy the music even though you can still hear noise caused from the wear.
