BEATLES UK – Abbey Road LP misaligned apple logo sleeve and a Sgt Pepper original ‘wavy’ inner sleeve.

Abbey Road, very first press, mispressed, misaligned apple logo sleeve

1969 PCS 7088 - apple record labels.

A UK very first press album in original condition, featuring:

1. a Misaligned APPLE logo mispress on the rear of the sleeve,

2. on side two of the record label the track ‘Her Majesty’ is NOT printed but the track does play on the record !

CONDITION:

THE MAIN SLEEVE: is in near excellent condition, the sleeve has an excellent glossy laminate, front and rear. The original thin spine is in excellent condition and all the text on the spine is clear to read. As this is a very first pressing of this album it features the Apple logo on the rear of the sleeve misaligned, to the left !. EMI were quick to correct this and very soon the sleeves were changed and the Apple logo was correctly aligned with the song listing. There are NO stains, pen writing, splits, stickers or sticker residue on the sleeve. The are two small ‘nicks’, 5mm to the front only middle opening edge. The is a small area, 10mm sq. ? of laminate / picture loss to the area of Ringos face on the front of the sleeve.

THE INNER SLEEVE: is in near excellent condition and is the original EMI plain white sleeve with the text ‘Patent No. 1,125,555’ on. There are NO tears, stains, splits, pen writing, stickers or sticker residue on the sleeve. A previous owner ? has written in pencil on the rear of the sleeve the albums song listing from side two.

THE VINYL: is in very good+ condition. The vinyl is made from the period thick, heavy vinyl. It has remained dark and glossy.

The Matrix are: YEX 749 - 2 and YEX 750 - 1,

The Mother/Stampers are:  ‘4  O G A’  and  ‘ 8  A P R ’,

THE AUDIO: side one plays good, for some reason it ‘skips’ three times on the track ‘Come together’ the visual condition of the playing surface is very good, so there is no reason for it to skip !, I feel the record would benefit from a professional clean. Otherwise side one plays with some crackle and the odd light ‘tick’ here and there. Side two plays very good with some light crackle heard.  

THE LABELS: are in excellent+ condition. As this is a very first pressing side one shows a DARK Green Apple colour. The labels are free from any pen writing, stickers or sticker residue.

An original UK ‘wavy pattern’ inner sleeve that came with the very first Mono / Stereo copies of Sgt Pepper.

Please note this is just for the inner sleeve.

THE INNER SLEEVE: is in very good condition and is an original ‘wavy pattern’ red and white inner sleeve that came with all the very first UK pressings of Sgt Pepper. Theres NO pen writing, edge splits, stickers or sticker residue on the sleeve. There are some, what appears to be light ‘water marks’  and some small ‘nicks’ to one side of the top opening edge.

TO GRADE THE CONDITION OF THE RECORD I AM USING THE OFFICIAL GRADING SYSTEM FROM THE ‘RECORD COLLECTOR’ MAGAZINE.

PACKING  -  ALL RECORDS ARE POSTED WITH MULTI LAYERED CARD STIFFENERS FOR PROTECTION.BEFORE POSTING, THE RECORD IS REMOVED FROM THE RECORDS ORIGINAL INNER AND OUTER SLEEVES, THE RECORD IS THEN PUT INTO A SECOND PAPER INNER SLEEVE TO MINIMISE ANY DAMAGE THAT MAY OCCUR WHILE IN TRANSIT. THE RECORD / SLEEVES ARE THEN PUT INTO A NEW PLASTIC SLEEVE FOR FURTHER PROTECTION.
