Description

BEATLES UK, With the Beatles rare stereo E J Day sleeve, original 1963 UK, 1 R mother stampers.

PCS 3045, original UK 1963 Black and Yellow Parlophone record labels.

A UK stereo copy in original condition featuring a very hard to find stereo sleeve made by, ‘E J Day’, featuring:

1. a near impossible to find stereo sleeve made by, ‘E J Day’. Nearly all of the original UK 1963 first issue Beatles, ‘With the Beatles’ stereo sleeves were made by the company of, ‘Garrod and Lofthouse’. The company of ‘E J Day’ helped out EMI in the 1960s by producing a small number of sleeves for Beatle albums. So while mono ‘With the Beatles’ ‘E J Day’ sleeves can be found, it is near impossible to find a stereo, ‘With the Beatles’ ‘E J Day’ sleeve,

2. on side two of the record label, track seven the publishing credit features the misprint of, ‘Jobete’. EMI soon spotted this error and it was soon corrected,

3. Side two of the record features very early ‘mother / stampers’ of, ‘1 R’,

4. track three, side two on the record label features the spelling of ‘Gotta’, but on the rear of the sleeve it is spelt, ‘Got a’, for the track, ‘You really got a hold on me’,

5. comes with its original EMI, ‘Use Emitex’ inner sleeve.

CONDITION:

THE MAIN SLEEVE: is in near excellent condition, the front of the sleeve is laminated. There are just two slight ‘thumb’ creases around the front opening edge area. The spine is in very good++ condition and all of the text on the spine is clear to read. The two opening edges have remained very clean and sharp. The rear of the sleeve features the original 1960s tri - ‘flipback’ design, ie ‘fold over’ edges. Unique to these ‘E J Day’ sleeves are that the ‘flipbacks’ are made of a thinner card rather than the usual ‘thicker card’ construction. The un laminated rear of the sleeve has remained very clean for its age. There are NO splits, tears, stickers or sticker residue on the sleeve. There is a single thin blue pen line to the top, rear left corner. A very original, clean unspoilt example of such a RARE sleeve.

THE INNER SLEEVE: is in near excellent condition and is the original EMI ‘Use Emitex’ inner sleeve. An original, very clean white inner sleeve that has been well preserved. There are NO tears, pen writing, stickers or sticker residue on the inner sleeve. On one side there is a small ‘nick’ to the edge of the ‘die cut hole’ and there is a split to one of the side edges.

THE RECORD: each side of the record is in very good+ condition. The record is made from the period, quality 1960s thick, heavy vinyl. The record has remained dark and glossy.

The matrix are: YEX 110 - 2 and YEX 111 – 2,

The mother / stampers are: ‘4 RR and 1 R’, very early mother / stampers,

THE AUDIO: each side plays very good++. Each side plays with some ‘ticks’ heard here and there. The record plays with a full powerful period stereo sound.

THE RECORD LABELS: side one is in very good++ condition, side two is in excellent condition. The letters ‘KT’ are embossed around the spindle hole on side one. Each record label is free from any pen writing, stickers or any sticker residue.
