here we have an extremely very rare First MONO Pressing of the Beatles White Album, with the Earliest Matrix variation, and an extremely low number of 1917. low editions such as this one, around the thousand mark virtually never come up for sale, so this is a great opportunity to own a classic rare piece of musical history. I bought this copy some twenty years ago, and it has been stored and unplayed since then.

It comes complete with the original Lipstick poster, only available on first pressings, the original black inners and the Four original photos of the individual members. all originals, making this a true collectors item

-

This is the UK 1st Pressing on the 1st Press DARK Green Apple Labels, with 'Sold in the UK' text and NO 'EMI Recording' text on ANY of the labels, making this a true first press mono copy.

Country of manufacture and first published date: Mfd. In U.K. 1968

Cover - EXCELLENT Condition

Gatefold Cover is the original Top Loading Sleeve by GARROD & LOFTHOUSE. it is the heavier thick card only found on the first albums. The title THE BEATLES is embossed under the laminate, Edition Number - No. 0001917 - is pressed into the sleeve. The UK ORIGINAL GARROD & LOFTHOUSE gatefold covers came with fully Lamintade Flip Backs, which are in Fantastic condition.

The cover has maintained its creamish white sheen, with a solid unbroken spine. the laminate has lifted slightly along the spine, but is on the whole intact. the text is untouched beneath the laminate. The inside is totally clean with no feathering to the top openings, which is extremely unusual.

the MONO versions, do have a tendency to ‘yellow’, and this one does have some yellowing near the spine, but its a cracking cover with very little to fault it.

-

Vinyl - (a strict) VERY GOOD PLUS, Both Extra thick heavy Vinyls are in the Original MONO format, machine stamped in the vinyl run off areas. the records have retained a wonderful original sheen. there are some hairlines, a few light scuffs and a few very light scratches, these records have obviously been played but are in solid condition with no nasty marks of wear.

Album Played For Grading: Yes – brilliant! VERY GOOD PLUS to EXCELLENT sound quality throughout.

This great record plays up to the visual grading and beyond. this pressing plays through with the unmistakable strong mono sound and a couple of the lightest clicks only. some light background noise in some quiet places, which certainly aren't noticable enough to interfere with the listening pleasure of these great mono vinyls

-

Labels:- Famous Apple labels are in EXCELLENT Condition, no marks or writing, limited spindle wear. The first Apple LP's featured the "Sold in UK" message across the label which was found on all Parlophone records of the period.

-

Comes with all 4 Photos which are in EXCELLENT - nr MINT Condition. all Four Prints, 20 x 29 cms, on the original Thick Card

-

Brief Album notes:- The Beatles had over a quarter of a million advance orders, and of course went straight to number 1. This was the first double album EVER to get to the top slot where it stayed for 7 weeks in a row. It sold so many, that once again The Beatles also made the singles chart, consequently the ONLY double album to ever enter that chart. By the end of the year, just over a month later, the white album had sold over 4,000,000 copies worldwide, and by the end of 1970 global sales were around 6.5 million. At that time this was the biggest selling double album of all time.

The sleeve design was by Richard Hamilton, who suggested the minimalistic approach and the consecutively numbered sleeves which would give a limited edition feel to it. Richard also came up with the montage idea for the large free poster, which included the lyrics on it's rear. The four free colour prints were taken by John Kelly.

Vinyl. - large format covers with the original sound and mix of the highest quality sound.

Please note. I have described this vinyl as honestly and accurately as possible. Please allow for occasional static (possibly giving a very light crackle) that will nearly always be found on vinyl, No matter how perfect an example it is, or how well it has been looked after

Static caused by dust in the grooves of the vinyl, is not the same as mechanical damage to the vinyl, i.e. a tick or jump caused by a deep scratch or chip.
