BEATLES Please Please Me EARLY ISSUE UK MONO LP MINT- UK MONO LP with 2nd issue cover and 4th issue record, original release date 1963 on the black and yellow Parlophone label, catalogue number: PMC1202 Matrix nos: side1) XEX421-1N side 2) XEX422-1N Condition of cover/record: MINT- / MINT- (Grading as used by Record Collector) The flip-back laminated cover was printed and made by Ernest J Day & Co Ltd London. This cover has the ‘Angus McBean’ credit on the front cover approx one inch or 2cm from the open edge (2nd issue) – see close-up picture. There is no wear to either top or bottom edges or the open edge. There is no ‘ring’ wear on the front cover – just a hint of an impressed mark at the bottom and open edge, which altogether measures approx 5 to 6 inches. There is a paper-thin wear mark on the front cover, under ‘ME * THE BE’ in the top white title margin – see close-up picture. The four corners are in almost MINT condition – one is perfect, two have approx 1/8th inch diameter wear marks, and one has approx ¼ inch wear mark. There are two small laminate creases on the front cover – one is one inch the other is ½ inch long. The rear cover is pure white, and the flip-back has just an outline impressed mark where the top and bottom of the record has been, but the laminate has just a tiny ‘nick’ or tear approx 1/8th inch long right in the centre of the top flip-back – see close-up picture. There are no other creases, no other tears, rings, wear to any of the edges, no splaying of the open edge, no writing or stickers, no dirty marks, no fingering or fading. The spine is in perfect condition with perfect print. The inner sleeve is die-cut white paper (the LP is housed in an anti-static sleeve) – both sleeves will be posted to the winning bidder. On the label it has ‘Recording First Published 1963’ and ‘The Parlophone Record Co Ltd’ but it does not have ‘Sold in UK’. It has ‘Dick James Mus Co’ credit for ‘Please please me’ & ‘Ask me why’ but Northern Songs credit for ‘There’s a place’, ‘I saw her standing there’, ‘Misery’ and ‘Do you want to know a secret’. The two labels each have approx 20 to 25 very light spindle marks – they are very faint and hardly noticeable. Please note: there were some light reflections in some photos which I was unable to eliminate. The record plays ALMOST COMPLETELY WITHOUT FAULT – very few extremely faint crackles on each side made me grade this just below MINT quality, but I can assure bidders this record will not disappoint you.
