Description

Beatles 3rd State (Peeled) Scranton #3 Butcher Cover
Please read entire description/auction terms prior to bidding on this item. Thank You
If you've been looking for a genuine and authentic 3rd State (peeled) 1966 East Coast PA #3 Mono Butcher Cover that features a nicely peeled Butcher Slick that comes complete with the removed trunk slick, read on. This is a better overall example than usually seen on auction sites. Please search completed auctions and take a close look at those offerings to compare. We're sure you will agree on the quality difference here. Please check out all of the photos including the photo of this jacket prior to being professionally peeled.
Many collectors consider this 1966 controversial album the "holy grail" of their record collection. While these jackets may seem costly to the entry level collector, these particular jackets are hard to source in this condition. A top example of a 3rd state jacket sold for 8k in the last few months. These higher quality examples have tended to hold their value over the years. While that is certainly out of reach for most collectors, this offering is certainly more attainable.
This is an excellent value that presents nicely and includes the removed trunk slick that is also in framable condition. This jacket has a few typical minor condition issues (see detailed description below) but make no mistake, this offering is in the higher top percentage of quality 3rd states.
Please read the jacket description below for specific details on condition.
Bid with confidence of authenticity and check our positive feedback for customer satisfaction of past sales of genuine Butcher Covers. Also look at realized prices of completed auctions and compare.
This item will be safely and securely double boxed and shipped to you via Priority Mail. Please read complete description prior to bidding.
Condition:
Front of Jacket:

Although from the look of the trunk slick, it appears that this was not an easy peel (although there is a myth that Scranton jackets are easy peels) and every bit as good as the better examples that we've sold in the past. This is a very decent peel overall. The Butcher slick is vibrant and factory glue lines/residue etc from the paste over process back in 1966 is very light on this one and any touch up (if any) would be extremely minimal. No Large tears and any abrasions, etc during the peeling process etc are confined to very tiny common areas such as the edges. The pictures tell the story but in all honesty don't do this peel justice.
Please see photos to verify the specific conditions (photos may vary slightly in colors, shading, etc due to different lighting sources used during photography) described and feel free to contact with questions. The item shown is exact item that you will receive and is an awesome example of a high quality east coast peel.

Seams:
Top seam appears mostly complete and unspilt with just a few inches of light cracking near the mouth and a small tip rub on the other side (see photo of top seam). Bottom Seam also appears mostly complete with a few inches of cracking and chipping on each side. (see photo of bottom seam). Also, there is a slight corner bump on the left hand side of the bottom corner. To protect the integrity of what remains of these seams and avoid future damage, a record should never be attempted to be forced or stored inside this jacket (See close up photos of seams).
Spine:
Spine is also mostly complete with most writing legible with some paper checking/cracking and two spots of paper loss at the very ends of both sides of the spine, which is very common on these. (See Spine photos).
Back Of Jacket:
The back of the jacket shows light to moderate wear/aging and a few small marks/stains. Also, there is an abrasion of a few inches near the top right corner. (see photo of back)
Trunk Slick:
Removed Trunk Slick is included as shown in photos in displayable condition with some wear/tear and noticeable wrinkling/shrinking from the peeling process. (see photo of trunk slick).
Record Inner Sleeve
Comes with East Coast mono pressing in Poor to Fair visual condition (many scratches and scuffs, was not properly cared for) plays through surprisingly well for this visual condition with some light crackling here and there but no skips on our player. 1966 East Coast Goldenrod Colored Capitol Inner Sleeve displays typical bottom and side splits of several inches and light staining.
Terms Of Auction/Shipping:
Due to recent inflation and subsequent increases in actual USPS shipping costs, Buyer pays $34.99 for properly packed double boxed priority shipping with tracking. Shipping of such a high value, large package with significant weigh is costly and labor intensive and will likely be more that what is being charged here. Regardless, the cost to you will be capped at $34.99. Bidders with low feedback or new accounts must contact us prior to bidding on this item. Seller reserves the right to cancel bids at any time. Due to the exceptional cost and labor involved in shipping this item, this is being sold "AS IS" and there are No Returns on this purchase. Please review all photos and descriptions and please contact with questions prior to bidding. What you see is what you get. This item has been through a laborious process from the 2nd state to what you see here, and as such, the grading is unique on this item. This cannot be graded like a comic book or a baseball card due to the fact that this jacket has twice been altered from its original state, once by the paste over process at the Capitol Factory and likewise by the peeling/restoration process. Any minor imperfections are from either process. The photos speak for themselves and we do our best to accurately grade these historic artifacts.
Please not that T- Shirt seen in background is NOT INCLUDED in this auction and is for display purposes only.
Thank You !
