This auction is for an extremely rare original 1963 mono pressing of the Beatles Parlophone debut LP 'Please Please Me' on the yellow / black label.

This is the very rare pressing that features the additional '33 1/3' print just to the side of the matrix number on the label!!

When this LP was initially released it was on Parlophones older style 'gold' label. Very soon after release the album came out with the newer 'yellow / black' design. When the label was initially changed the original label type had been left unaltered and so the small '33 1/3' remained after the matrix number. However, the problem with this was that this speed was already on the newer label design and so was erroneous. Therefore this little addition was almost instantly removed from the labels.

Today it is incredibly difficult to find a copy with this additional '33 1/3' print! They have become extremely collectible and are a must for any Beatles collection!

The cover is looking surprisingly good for its age! (51 years and counting!) The front cover has a slight reddish hue and general, light wear and tear around the edge. There's some light creasing (one bigger crease top right) and an imprint of 'Lorraine' just to the right of the Parlophone logo. Top seam has a few spots of wear but is holding okay with no splitting. Bottom seam, again, has a few little knocks but no splits. The spine has no wear or splitting and is fully legible! The back has yellowed a little but is still pretty clean! There's a tear at the top right where it looks like someone has stuck tape down and pulled it away. There's a light browning down the mouth edge and some rounding to the corners. But, overall, the cover is looking pretty good considering!   The Inner Sleeve: VG-

The original tissue paper Emitex inner sleeve is included. It's yellowed slightly with a little creasing and light wear. There's a small split, about 3 or so inches, at the bottom.   Disc (Visually Graded Only!!) : POOR

The playing surface has a lot of scuffs and marks along with some heavier marks, the most notable shown in the photo above.

The labels are looking pretty good with bright silver text. There is some wear as you can see in the photos above, and there's some whitening around the centrehole.
