Description
This is for many the greatest recording of the St. Matthew Passion: Otto Klemperer conducts with singers Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, Peter Pears, Elizabeth Schwarzkopf, Christa Ludwig, Nicolai Gedda, and Walter Berry.
Original 1962 US stereo pressing on blue Angel 3599. Five LPs and a large booklet in a wide box. All five discs are very near perfect mint, if not actually perfect mint. It doesn't look as if it has been played more than once, if at all. Side two is the only place where I see any sort of flaw. There is a visible surface scuff but it doesn't make any sound. I played through the spot and heard nothing. Plays perfectly. The rest of the discs seem flawless. The cover is also in excellent condition but has one flaw: the top is detached from the bottom. It doesn't appear ripped or damaged, and is actually a little easier to open this way. Other than that this is an almost perfect copy. Really lovely.
