Description

An original very 1st UK press on B&C Records from 1970. Matrix 1/1 -1st cut. Stampers 1G/2GM. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original heavy-card gatefold cover printed by E J Day. We also have the original poly-lined inner sleeve from the time. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex-) Is in superb condition and has only seen light use. Under close inspection I can only make out a couple of light marks per side - nothing heavy or troublesome though. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT level of playback with just a couple of minor deviations. Beautiful audio rolling of this super heavy early pressing. Is the 1G stamper helping?.. it can't be hurting! Very well rounded full bodied audio which does a great job of the heavy riffing on this title. There are plenty of quieter moments on this title - and this copy is well capable of delivering them nice and clean. Not all that much to take issue with really. I noticed the odd crackle occasionally in track 1 [Death] - but it's still very impressive all the same. There's a couple of slight ticks in the opening organ of '7 Streets'- absolutely no big deal. Some isolated crackles in the intro to 'Nobody else' - but nothing intrusive. Overall a blindingly good player. Highly recommended.
Cover (Vg+) In remarkable condition really. Take a look at some of the other examples on-line. These black covers might look cool - but boy did they end up looking tired a couple of decades down the line. This example is by no means perfect, but I think you'll agree it's looking far better preserved than many out there. Front and back are nice and clean with some light handling wear [as almost impossible to avoid entirely]. A bit of super low-level surface creasing on the rear [just mentioning to be ultra-critical..]. The interior looks absolutely fab - lovely image in black and white. This is what gatefold sleeves were made for! There's edge wear observable, but it's all fairly minor for this title. The openings are still sharp. The spine is in remarkable condition - I very much doubt many will be looking like this after 50 years of use. Very little wear at all - all text perfectly legible. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity in part thanks to the heavy-card employed in manufacture.
Inner (Vg+)  A bit of light ageing. No splits.
