Description
Hopefully, I have proven myself as a reputable seller of vinyl records. I try to address all issues so there is no guessing as to what condition the record will be when it arrives at your door. Sometimes honesty will affect the end price. But over the long run it will help the sellers reputation and happy customers tend to return. I know quite well that nobody wants a beat up record. Thus, from here forward I will favor offering vinyl in VG+ to NM condition. But occasionally I will have sales on great players that have minor condition issues. Bid with confidence. My vinyl grading list is below.
This item has been relisted due to errors in my information that could not be changed due to the speed that it was bid on. Sorry. I like to keep things straight.
I get nervous when I list a record with an 800.00 value without a reserve. But that's the auction game. I see 'psych' records end at 5 times their value while items like this sell for a song. But I ask you, which will hold the value in the future? This album, 'Modern Art' is very modern, some super smooth and hip jazz for the times. This is a rare gem in super condition. Try finding a better one. I think even the fussiest collector will be pleased to have this in their vault.
Artist/Band: Art Pepper Quartet
Title: Modern Art
Label: Intro Records ILP-606
Year: 1951
Format: Mono (says "Full Fideli-Sound)
Disk: I am going to give this thick disk an EX. Lovely gloss, very sparse marks only visable under light, NO scratches that affect play, sweet labels, ect. I doubt I will get any complaints about this 56 year old disk.
Cover: A definate EX for a half century old cover, decent seams and corners, the only wear is what you see in the photos, only slight surface wear, pretty minimal
Comments: You won't see this one come around very often. Take you pick of 'book value'. Goldmine or Jerry Osborne. I am listing this item with confidence.
My Record Grading
NM - Has no marks or surface noise, full gloss and clean labels. Covers will have no addressable wear, crisp seams and corners.
EX - Very close to NM but might have only LIGHT surface marks only visable under bright light. Covers show only the slightest shelfwear
VG+ - Disk might have superficial marks that do NOT affect play, has NO audible scratches. Might have rare occasional dust ticks audible between tracks. It is a well kept record that shows normal but careful use. Cover shows it's age but has no serious ringwear or splits.
VG - Means VERY GOOD. The record is in realistic condition, but has NO deep scratches or skips. Might have light surface sound between tracks and quiet areas. But plays very good for an old record. Covers might have ringwear, minor splits and even writing, but is still presentable or even restorable.
G - Is an old used record that still plays good without skips. This is the condition of most 50s and 60s records and are usually not found for sale unless they are very rare. The cover still holds the record.
I ship records in a professional way. The disk will be sent out of the cover, packing assures safety to the cover. Shipping rates are only .60 over actual rate to cover box and new poly sleeve. Media Mail includes delivery confirmation. West Coast buyers will have Priority Mail rate adjusted with invoice @ .75 less. Canada buyers use lower rate of 6.50. I do combine shipping. Up to 3 LPs for same Media Mail rate. Add .50 after 3. Add 1.00 each added via Priority. Europe add 3.00 up to 3 albums. After that, it goes to more expensive Air Mail Parcel Post.

The year is 1957, not 1951, my typo, sorry.
I'd like to collectively answer some questions I have had on this item, since I don't like posting them. The label IS MAROON, absolutely. The red look is the fault of digital photo technology. Also, the top left corner is NOT damaged. What shows in the photo is simply how the back slick overlaps the front. Again, wear is minimal and simply follows the back slick line as seen in the photo. This cover has very little to report, maybe a TINY bit of wear on the first inch of the top seams at the mouth but they are not split and the corners are still pointed. Lastly, I DO PLAYGRADE. Generally, this record plays like new. Very rare and occasional ticks or pops can be heard that are NOT associated with marks. They are either pressing burrs or dust in the groove. I have NOT cleaned this record, just surface dusted it. I will leave that to the buyer, though it needs very little attention. It's in great shape. I think the buyer will be pleased. I will take extra care shipping it to assure that it arrives at your door the same way it leaves mine. If this item ends at or above 75% book value, I will provide free shipping and insurance with the invoice.
