LUIS DE PABLO

SONIDO DE LA GUERRA / INVITACION A LA MEMORIA LP

RCA Red Seal

Very rare album from spanish composer Luis De Pablo featuring unique cover artwork from Antoni Tapies. Obscure and abstract creates a dark & haunting atmosphere.

Some info on the release:  Very rare release on the spanish RCA Red Seal by spanish composer Luis De Pablo, featuring his works "Sonido de la Guerra" & "Invitacion a la Memoria" both performed by the new music group Groupo Koan. Co-produced by the spanish Red Cross and the Centre for studies and dissemination of Human Rights. Nearly never shows up for sale, this one gets more interesting because of the fact that the cover artwork is made by surrealist-dadaist catalan painter Antoni Tapies.

Luis de Pablo is very well known for his electronic & electroacoustic works("We Nosotros", "Visto de Cerca", "Soledad Interumpida", "Comme d'Habitude" and others). Close to his copratiots Andres Lewin Richter, Horacio Vaggione, Eduardo Polonio, Gabriel Brncic and Gonzalo de Olavide. His musical education included teachings by Maurice Ohana and Darmstadt summer courses with Bruno Maderna and Pierre Boulez. His turn to aleatoric music marked him in most of his work. He has released records on labels like Wergo, Claves, Polydor, Rca and others.

Luis de Pablo belongs to the great avant-garde/experimental composers "wave" that appeared in Europe in the 60's/70's/80's with main representators composers like Hans Werner Henze, Pierre Boulez, György Kurtág, Wolfgang Rihm, Helmut Lachenmann and Salvatore Sciarrino, Heinz Holliger, Brian Ferneyhough, and Nicolaus A. Huber, Karlheinz Stockhausen, György Ligeti and Bruno Maderna, Henri Pousseur or more widely Bernd Alois Zimmermann, John Cage, Toru Takemitsu, Bruno Maderna, Jani Christou, Iannis Xenakis and of course Pendercki.

Condition: Vinyl lies in only good condition, looks super clean, like new but has a bad warp that as you will realize affects playing for the first 4-5 minutes of each side as a repeated "swoosh" sound which fades out and which may cause a couple of skips near the beggining, while cover lies in excellent shape, with very light age wear (see picture).
