LP : Andrzej Kurylewicz - Polish Radio Big Band

Original Polish mono pressing from 1965 on Polskie Nagrania Muza, XL 0241, Polish Jazz Vol. 2. Recorded in Warsaw, November 1964. Excellent Big Band led by A.Kurylewicz, who also plays one of the trombones and composed one of the tracks. High class compositions by very well-known names of the Polish jazz-scene: Wojciech Karolak, Jan Ptaszyn Wróblewski, Micha? Urbaniak, Jerzy Milian, Piotr Figiel...

Fiery Big Band parts alternate with small combo passages, awesome soli by all players in peak form, varied styles from mainstream via sensitive ballads to swinging bop, highlighted maybe by the slightly modal „Paisk = Sand“, composed by Michal Urbaniak.

You can listen to several tracks on youtube, e.g. the modern “Piasek”, the long “The Bull”, the swinging “In Marsza?kowska Street At Night” or the beautiful “Ballada Dla Anny”.

For safety reasons and due to the weight of already more than 500 Gram I will place the heavy record in an extra plain white cover for shipping.

Condition: the record looks mint- to mint-- in daylight & in normal artificial light, it looks mint-- to ex++ under a very strong halogen lamp. It plays in mint-.

The mid-60ies Polish paper-quality is pretty thin and sensitive, therefore it's not easy to find a copy in pretty excellent shape like this one: the first pressing-cover has a slightly yellow colour (later they are more white) wich has darkened a bit, front & back are fine with some ringwear and little cornerwear on both right corners, all seams/spine are intact with just slight rub, minimal wear at the opening; overall ex.

Zustand: die LP sieht bei Tageslicht & unter einer normalen Lampe mint- bis mint-- aus, unter einer sehr hellen Halogenlampe sieht sie mint-- bis ex++ aus. Sie spielt in mint- .

Die Papier-Qualität der polnischen Mitte-60er Jahre Cover ist recht dünn und empfindlich, man findet sie selten in so gutem Zustand wie dieses Exemplar: das Erstpressungs-Cover hat eine leicht gelbliche Farbe (spätere Ausgaben sind mehr weiss) welche an einigen Stellen nachgedunkelt ist, Vorder- & Rückseite sind sind recht schön mit etwas ringwear und leichten Gebrauchsspuren an den beiden rechten Ecken, alle Kanten sind intakt mit nur leichtem Abrieb, minimale Gebrauchsspuren am Einschub; insgesamt in ex.

Alle Platten wurden professionell gereinigt, entweder von mir (Hannl Mikro) oder von den Vorbesitzern (Okki Nokki, Loricraft o.Ä.). Anschließend wurden sie nur wenige Male abgespielt bzw. nur einmal von mir zum Bewerten angehört (komplett oder in Ausschnitten). Optische Bewertung erfolgt in Tageslicht, in normalen Kunstlicht & unter einer sehr hellen Halogenlampe. Platten kommen mit neuer hochwertiger Innenhülle & in einer Schutzhülle. Bitte beachten: auch prof. gereinigte Platten können einige Staubpartikel haben; “eingefangen” während optischer & akkustischer Bewertung, Fotografieren oder den wenigen Abspielungen der Vorbesitzer.

Grading & Cleaning:

• all records have been cleaned on a professional record cleaning machine, either by me (Hannl Mikro) or by the pre-owners (Okki Nokki, Loricraft or the like). After cleaning the records have been played just a few times (or only once by me for playgrading)

• I playgrade each record (completely or at least in parts) on my Rega Planar 9, high-end Moving Coil cartridge by EINSTEIN/ EMT TU-3 SFL (please consider that the playback might differ a bit depending on your own equipment)

• I also visually grade cleaned records in daylight, in normal artificial light & under a strong halogen lamp

• only an unplayed record is mint, my highest grading for a used record is mint- . My basic gradings are: mint – ex – vg

• cleaned records are stored in a new pro innersleeve and they are placed in a PVC protection-sleeve

• pl. note: even pro cleaned records may have received some dust particles during visual-/play-grading, photographing or few pre-owner playbacks
