Description
Welcome to my Auction You are bidding on a 12" vinyl copy of 'R&B Live From the Marquee' by Alexis Korner's Blues Incorporated. Label: Decca's Ace of Clubs ACL 1130 Matrix numbers: ARL 5605-1B/ARL 5606-1B The Ace of Clubs record label was an offshoot of Decca, primarily set up to rerelease old recordings. So back in 1962 Decca dug up some live recordings they had of Alexis Korner and his band and the 'R&B live from the Marquee' album was born. Of course, this LP contains only a small part of The Blues Incorporated repertoire, which was a mixture of covers of blues standards and their own compositions. There is no doubting their musical credentials, many of them having had experience of playing with established jazz bands. The laminated cover of the album is perfect except for a crease in the top left hand corner .
The rear of the cover does have one very minor biro mark. If you look at the top right hand corner, directly next to the catalogue number of 'ACL 1130', you can see that someone has written a small red 'X'. This is barely visible though. Apart from a few dirty fingerprints, this is all I can see. Oh, and someone has also written the catalogue number in red biro in small writing on one corner of the original poly lined inner sleeve.
The vinyl is in superb shape for an album of this age with barely a mark on it. Even under the scrutiny of the magnifying glass it holds up well. Naturally, there are one or two surface scuffs, but there are no marks visible to the naked eye and the proof of the pudding is that this album plays well.
There is a small chalky mark on the label of side 1 just by the 331/3 sign. This is probably just a bit of glue residue from a price tag.
This is a great example of this early British blues album and worthy of a place in any collection. (what a lovely label). This record is ex second-hand record shop stock and has lain, unplayed, in a loft for 10 years.
