Description

ALEXIS KORNER ''BLUES INCORPORATED'' ORIGINAL 1969 UK PRESSING 1ST ISSUE ON THE POLYDOR LABELS ((MONO)) CAT NO 236206 #1#1 MATRIX  ONLY PLAYED TWO TIMES EVER! LOOKS TOTALLY UNPLAYED!! NEAR MINT VINYL NEAR MINT AUDIO AWESOME E.DAY LAMINATED FRONT COVER!!

AN ARCHIVE COPY NEVER NEED TO UPGRADE!!

Another from my personal collection. Purchased from new and only ever played to record to tape and then stored in a case with the vinyl seperated from the cover for protection. This is how I have always stored my records!

The vinyl is immaculate and looks totaly unplayed in my opinion! The original laminated fron E.Day cover is also in tip top condition almost as good as the day that I purchased it! Absolutely awesome near mint (mono) audio throughout!  This is the 1st (mono) issue pressed and released in (1969) on the Polydor labels cat no 236206, this was the reisue of the original 1965 pressing ''High Sky'' that was released on ''Spot'' labels!!  There were fewer tracks listed on this 1969 pressing but it is extreemely scarce and rare to find an almost unplayed 41 year old original in this condition, an archive copy, never need to upgrade!

Alexis Korner (19 April 1928 — 1 January 1984) was a pioneering blues musician and broadcaster who has sometimes been referred to as "the Founding Father of British Blues". A major influence on the sound of the British music scene in the 1960s, Korner was instrumental in bringing together various English blues musicians!!.

Alexis Andrew Nicholas Koerner was born in Paris to an Austrian father and Greek mother, and spent his childhood in France, Switzerland, and North Africa. He arrived in London in 1940 at the start of the Second World War. One memory of his youth was listening to a record by black pianist Jimmy Yancey during a German air raid. He said, "From then on all I wanted to do was play the blues!!."

After the war, he played piano and guitar, and in 1949 joined Chris Barber's Jazz Band where he met blues harmonica player Cyril Davies. They started playing together as a duo, formed the influential London Blues and Barrelhouse Club in 1955, and made their first record together in 1957. Korner brought many American blues artists, previously unknown in England, to perform!!.

In 1961, Korner and Davies formed Blues Incorporated, initially a loose-knit group of musicians with a shared love of electric blues and R&B music. The group included, at various times, such influential musicians as Charlie Watts, Jack Bruce, Ginger Baker, Long John Baldry, Graham Bond, Danny Thompson and Dick Heckstall-Smith. It also attracted a wider crowd of mostly younger fans, some of whom occasionally performed with the group, including Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Brian Jones, Rod Stewart, John Mayall and Jimmy Page!!

One story is that The Rolling Stones went to stay at Korner's house late one night, in the early 1960s, after a performance. They entered in the accepted way, by climbing in through the kitchen window, to find Muddy Waters' band sleeping on the kitchen floor!

Although Cyril Davies left the group in 1963, Blues Incorporated continued to record, with Korner at the helm, until 1966. However, by that time its originally stellar line-up and crowd of followers had mostly left to start their own bands. "While his one-time acolytes The Rolling Stones and Cream made the front pages of music magazines all over the world, Korner was relegated to the role of 'elder statesman'."

Although he himself was a blues purist, Korner criticised better-known British blues musicians during the blues boom of the late '60s for their blind adherence to Chicago blues, as if the music came in no other form. He liked to surround himself with jazz musicians and often performed with a horn section drawn from a pool which included, among others, saxophone players Art Themen, Mel Collins, Dick Heckstall-Smith, Dick Morrissey, John Surman and trombonist Mike Zwerin

This is the 1st (mono) issue pressed and released in 1969 on the Polydor labels cat no 236206, this was the reisue of the original 1965 pressing ''High Sky'' that was released on ''Spot'' labels!!  There were fewer tracks listed on this 1969 pressing but it is extreemely scarce and rare to find an almost unplayed 41 year old original in this condition, an archive copy, never need to upgrade!

The vinyl

On initial visual inspection i can't see a blemish!!! This lays perfectly flat on the turntable!!!! This is the original THICKER and deeper grooved type of vinyl only found on original early pressings later pressings were much more flimsier and less robust. In very strong light any marks that could be seen would have been caused by the vinyl being slid in and out of its record sleeve. I CAN NOT SEE ANY AT ALL! THIS IS LIKE NEW!!!!  I can ( not) see any needle scratches or marks that would OR INDEED effect the play at all!!!! NEVER NEED TO UPGRADE FROM THIS VINYL!!!!

The Audio Quality

I have played this vinyl prior to listing on a top system at very loud volume and importantly using a dedicated mono cartridge!  The audio is awesome, cristal clear and vibrant all of the way through, Please note i heard of coarse (no) clicks or pops during the play of this vinyl and also (no) background noise which is so common on these early pressings!!! This is so rare to find like this and in this virtually unplayed condition. The audio on this very rare vinyl will be hard to surpass and I rate this audio at the VERY VERY top on all frequencies near mint!!!!

THIS  HAS ONLY EVER BEEN PLAYEDTWO TIMES EVER!

Please note! I always add this disclaimer! That I have given my honest opinion when describing the audio quality of this vinyl. and have played it through track for track. Although i never heard any problems what so ever, Please allow for the odd static  (not) consistant through out the audio!!! Remember this is an original (not) a reissue that is 41 years old and would have been played on a system that is 41 years old!! Please look at my completed listings of records that i have sold of this calaber and you will see that i normally get it right!!!!!

The audio is graded at the top!!!!
