Description

 Gennett 3048, "colored vocal", Josephine Beatty w/ Red Onion Jazz Babies, reverse Kitty Irvin accompanied by piano and clarinet.  Plays well on my transcription turntable w/lightweight sapphire.  Record has a fine hairline crack which I stabilized on lead-in edge with gorilla glue and marked with a small piece of white paper.  Crack goes from edge to beginning of lead-out area.  Ticks LIGHTLY and FAINTLY for first 1/2 of recording, then goes away.  Ultra-fine crack.  The record is too scarce and important to ignore.  Plays fine on modern turntable.  Never under ANY circumstances should ANY cracked record be played with a heavy steel needle.....it will eat away at the crack repair.  Further restoration can be undertaken with hydraulic industrial adhesives, applied with a needle and stereo-microscope, but I am not equipped for fine surgery.   Record will be packed between 4 layers of new double-wall cardboard, in a new sturdy box.  Please ask all questions, thank you!
