ARTIST:  Birmingham Sam and His Magic Guitar (John Lee Hooker)
LABEL:   Savoy 5558
TITLES:  Low Down-Midnight Boogie / Landing Blues
CONDITION:  EE+
DESCRIPTION:
A pair of John Lee Hooker's primal first blues sides recorded in Detroit in the late 1940s. Masters recorded by JVB's Joe Von Battle and sold to Savoy, who released them as by Birmingham Sam as Hooker was under contract with Modern at the time.  Blues vocal side is backed with an instrumental guitar boogie on which Hooker adds some stream of consciousness comments half way through. Glossy copy with some dirt at edge which extends into grooves 1/4-1/2".  Plays with very minor swish a few grooves on "Landing Blues", and no effect on "Low Down...".    WAIT FOR SECOND INVOICE - THE ONE NOT AUTOMATICALLY GENERATED BY EBAY IMMEDIATELY AFTER CLOSE OF AUCTION.
