This auction is for an original first Mono pressing of The Beatles infamous self-titled double LP album, known affectionately as the white album.

INCREDIBLY low number... No. 0000501.

Twenty million copies of this album have been sold since its release in December 1968 with two million sold in the first week, so to find such a low number is a real rarity. Almost certainly picked up on the day of release. I've owned it for a year or so and must say its been a privilege and I hope it finds a good home with someone else who will love it as much as I have (someone without expensive bills to pay!!).

Top opening gatefold sleeve is in nice condition but has a worn spine. Vinyl is in used but nice condition with first press matrix numbers and low stampers. Labels feature dark green apple and 'Sold in UK' but omitting 'An EMI Recording' - all labels are clean and clear. Comes with original pictures, super rare picture divider, poster and black inners - all in excellent condition. Rare to find a complete set in such good condition (see below for more details).

Sleeve: VG+ (original Garrod and Lofthouse gatefold sleeve, spine is very worn but cover is otherwise good with only minor discoluration and wear, although T in The BEATLES has some laminate peeling)
Vinyl: VG+ (hairlines visible when held up to the light but nothing deep, both discs play with some crackle in quieter places but no pops or skips)
Pictures: EX+ (all four beatles pictures are present and in beautiful condition, also has original fly paper divider to protect the photos)
Poster: EX- (nice condition with only minor age related wear)
Inners: EX (original black inners are in remarkably good condition)

Record Collector Grading System

• MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.
• EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and / or creasing.
• VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
• GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.
• FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and / or defaced.
• POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
• BAD: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection filler.
