I'm offering two The Cars 45rpm singles. One is titled "My Best Friend's Girl". A test pressing. Length 3:43. Matrix #EM-45537-A-SP  RTB. Catalog #E-45537. In stereo. Flip side is "Dont Cha Stop", length 3:01, with 3 scratches which produce light crackles the first 10 seconds then no longer audible because the music drowns them out. ©1978. This was the second single from their fourth album, "Shake It Up". Second record is "Gimme Some Slack". A promotional copy. Length 3:32. Catalog #E-47101. In stereo. Flip side is the same song, same length, mono. ©1980. I've owned these since they came out and have played them only a couple of times including just before listing them. Codition is good with "Gimme Some Slack", no pops, no skips, crackling, scatches, or scuff marks. The Cars were an American rock band formed in Boston in 1976. Emerging from the new wave scene in the late 1970s, they consisted of the late Ric Ocasek (rhythm guitar), the late Benjamin Orr (bass guitar), Elliot Easton (lead guitar), Greg Hawkes (keyboards) and David Robinson (drums). Ocasek and Orr shared lead vocals, and Ocasek was the band's principal songwriter and leader.

"My Best Friend's Girl" is a song from their 1978 eponymous debut studio album on Elektra Records, released on June 6 of that year. Written by Ocasek as a song about something that "probably happened to a lot of people," the track found radio success as a demo in 1977. The song was released as the album's second single. It peaked at number 35 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart. "Gimme Some Slack" is a song from their third studio album Panorama and was the third single from the album.
