2 - Acetates from “The Beer” Family 1947
Two amazing home made recordings from H.E. Beer Jr
who lived at 438 S. Chicago Street in Los Angeles California
these records one postmarked 1-22-47 was mailed to
Richard E. Beer, Communications, Naval Air Station
Corpus Christi Texas. One side is Herb, Dad and Mother
talking to Richard. The other side is a spoken letter.
The other disc was mailed from 118 S. Irena Ave, Redondo Beach
California (and it was at this address, at an estate sale that
the two records were found.) postmarked 1-28-47 also
mailed to Richard E. Beer, Sargent First Class, NAS Communications
Transmitter BLDG, Corpus Christi Texas. This disc says:
“Dear Dick - records from the folks” and “High Class Music” (Oh Brother)
both “Presto” brand metal base discs.
They were found in the original mailers with the canceled stamps.
Both are excellent sound reproduction at 78rpm, they seem a little
fast pitched. Both excellent Americana from the mid 20th Century.
