The Beatles
Please Please Me
Mono
(Black and Gold) CORRECTED 1st press!!
With early Stampers/Mothers
*ONLY 12,000 EVER MADE*
1T/1H
50 YEARS AGO LAST MONTH
Well, this was the start of something HUGE! Here we have the very first pressing of the Beatles' first released album, from the 22nd of March 1963.
It was the first and only time the MONO version was released before the STEREO version.
She entered the charts on the 6th of April and climbed to the top slot-staying there for a huge CONSECUTIVE 30 weeks, from May!...Maybe HUGE is too small a word for it?!
Catalogue Number: PMC 1202
Matrix Numbers:
Side 1: XEX 421-1N
Side 2: XEX 422-1N
Mothers & Stampers:
Side 1: 1/T
Side 2: 1/H
W-O-W...LOVELY EARLY PRESSING OF THIS CORRECTED VARIATION
(Making this pressing the FIRST Mother with the 9th Stamper for side 1 and the FIRST Mother and 7th Stamper for side 2!!)
The vinyl:
HEAVY 158g
VG-! She carries the marks of a few parties ;) However, I have just finished listening to the whole album and found an honest, raw sound reproduction....As The Beatles wanted YOU to hear them on their first album release!
NO SKIPS OR JUMPS
There is backgound noise throughout-mainly in the quieter section, but surprisingly enough a lot less than expected. She would benefit from a gentle professional clean.
Still raw and powerful!
QUALITY VINYL-THEY KNEW HOW TO MAKE THEM BACK THEN :)
The labels: VG-.
The labels are the more unusual and rarer version with the corrected credits. Instead of the first printings of these labels, where around 25,000 were made, with the Dick James credits. These labels are the 2nd print with the corrected Northern Songs credits.....
ONLY 12,000 of these were made.
CORRECTED Songs 1 & 2 on side 1 as well as songs 4 & 6 on side 2
There is something quite unusual about this label as the disc has an extra lip around the edge, just to the side 2 label (similar to a DECCA press)...???
There is a fair amount of hole wear to both sides, as well as general rubbing and marks to each label-please see the detailed pictures provided.
The Parlophone Company' edge lower case text.
NO 'Sold In The UK' text.
NO 'First Published' text,
Small 33 1/3
The "M..T" of the MZT tax code is just visible to the naked eye, on side 1.
The Cover: VG. ORIGINAL Ernest. J. Day cover. She does have some lifting in areas to the flip back, BUT NO SPLITS TO THE SEEMS. There is a little loss to the top right corner.
Angus McBean is in the bottom right corner on the front. The front cover is still very bright.
ALL ORIGINAL!! WOULD STILL LOOK GOOD FRAMED.
NO WRITING
FANTASTICALLY STRONG SPINE
(Legible too!)
HEAVY-WEIGHT LAMINATED CARD COVER
The inner: EX++! Original "Use Emitex" plastic lined inner. In TOP SHAPE!
NO SPLITS & NO WRITING
Also carries the rarer 1st printing text:
"PATENTS APPLIED FOR"
PLEASE SEE THE DETAILED IMAGES PROVIDED AND READ MY HONEST FEEDBACK FOR TRUE GRADINGS AND CUSTOMER SATISFACTION
ALL IN ALL THIS IS THE MORE RARE 2ND COPY OF THE BEATLES' VERY FIRST EXPLOSION ONTO THE SCENE-A SCENE WHICH WOULD REMAIN CHANGED FOREVER FOLLOWING THIS RELEASE.
SHE WOULD SIT PROUD IN ANYONES COLLECTION.
ONLY 12,000 MADE
NO SKIPS OR JUMPS (WITH MY STYLUS!)
COMPLETE TOO
