Description

PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question.   OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. Because of that dedication, there should be no need to open a resolution dispute before working with us.  Please keep in mind, we would prefer to continue to provide you the opportunity to acquire the rare music we present each and every week.   Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office. Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable.  We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our well over +22,000 positive feedback.   We use an ultrasonic KLAudio machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery.   We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! We have served thousands of satisfied customers - far more than our feedback records indicate - and our aim is to continue to do so.

COLLECTION ARTIFACT

Terrific known 1970 British rarity ((yet seldom ever seen)) ~~ commanding top collector prices for clean originals like this!!
Here's your chance!
One of the all time rated favorite British 1970 psychedelic albums remains scarce/hard to find - IF ever tried to find.
Nothing else quite compares to the surreal, dreamy, and slightly eerie atmosphere on this record.
Imagine a more drugged-out Procol Harum with shades of Syd Barrett and you get a vague idea of what the music sounds like.

The MOTHER LIGHT's main highlight perhaps is the surreal 'On a Meadow-Lea,' driven by pulsing Hammond chords and Malone's airy vocals. After the two initial stanzas, the track erupts in a hypnotizing section with some wild fuzz guitar soloing until fade-out, with Malone softly repeating the song's refrain "Wide, highed, lied, riding on a Meadow-Lea." Unreal
!
Another favorite is the side two opening 'House of Many Windows.' Crisp keyboard chords drive the verses, with a beautiful middle section with striking piano arpeggios joined in by what sounds like a tack piano. Malone's vocals sound quite like early Genesis Peter Gabriel's on this track.

The album opening track 'Motherlight' is a sci-fi flavored track with some rhythmic keyboard, more airy vocals, and interestingly, the Hammond is played to almost imitate spaceship "bleep-bloop" sounds which is a cool effect. The closing epic 'The Lens' is a chilling track, with some great organ interplay, eerie lyrics, and stoned vocals. The second half of this song is interesting - with Malone improvising on the piano while brief sections of each song from the album fade in an out, ala Atom Heart Mother (except this was a year before that!)

Other tracks include 'Mona Lose,' a fast paced rocker with some bizarre and somewhat dissonant chords. 'Wanna Make a Star Sam' is a short blues rocker with themes critiquing the music business. 'Chant' is a studio experiment with different sound effects and reversed tape effects over the band playing a repeating melody with wordless chants. 'Burning the Weed,' as expected from the title, is a fun track, with a slight rural-rock flavor and a catchy chorus.

Overall, this album is a lost classic of psychedelic rock (in opinion of course.) It has a very unique atmosphere unlike any other psych album heard. It might even rank as #1 for favorite psychedelic albums, narrowly beating 'Love and Poetry' by Andwellas Dream..
